Highlights
Plastic Mermaids – I Still Like Kelis

Those chords could take us anywhere but boy was I happy that this Isle of White six-piece chose the classic indie-rock route. ‘I Still Like Kelis’ gushes its little hearts out for our pleasure and so it doesn’t take too much for the (Jason Lyttle) Grandaddy-like vocals to push us over the edge

BVRTH – Oblivian

Chicago’s BVRTH dishes out an instrumental that is all over the place, spiritual, spacey but with so much character it feels as if Air have returned to their ‘Moon Safari’ era but this time come prepared with a trailer full of slide guitars. Yep, that is probably a lot to take in but it reads harder than it plays

Dina Maccabee – Hey You

My god ‘Hey You’ is breaking our hearts, I returned several times in a single sitting to make sure and yes the effect was still the same. Dina Maccabee you see is broken-hearted and it impacts on those all around, we feel gutted at her loss purely down to the way she emotes

It’s Butter – Vegan Chai

The lo-fi exchange early on doesn’t suggest a voice that the voice that emerges could be possible. So lithe and matter of factly casting off her words is Britta Raci it’s as if she doesn’t have a care in the world
