Highlights
I used to be a traveler. Now I’m staying in.

if there’s one thing the Coronavirus gave me, it’s learning to cook (although I’ve to agree that I’m thankful for my best friend Sahid for pushing me to step into the culinary world). So our little world at home is full of things we love: food, each other, cozy nooks and solitude. I’ve learnt to love the small things even more now, like the way Nathan’s eyes crinkle when he sees the stray cat who frequents our home I’ve learnt to love the smell of the earth when rain kisses it after the August heat, or the way my little sister stands against anyone and everyone who doesn’t appreciate me.

Homestays in Northeast India: Best Accommodations in the Region

I’ve written about Northeast India many times that I thought that the region receives no introduction in my future posts (like this one where I’m writing about homestays in northeast India). So here I am, writing another post about Northeast India (and the best homestays in Northeast India) and introducing you to the region. If you ever consider visiting, here’s a list of homestays in northeast India (the region is home to a handful of luxury accommodations and hostels, but as with anywhere else, I truly believe that the true essence of a place lies with homestays, or homely accommodations run by no one but locals). A Five Day Road Trip Across the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya

This photo of a group of kids eating rice on an unknown road in Meghalaya is not brilliant, but one that would stay in my photo drives for years to come. When we headed towards Shillong from Nongstoin on the Shillong-Tura highway, we took a detour and drove on a countryside road, passing green villages providing vegetables to many parts of Meghalaya. When we finally hit the highway, we whizzed past the last bits of Meghalaya fancy hotels, beautiful summer cottages, and roadside shacks piled up with bottles of chili chutney in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi District. This February, when I returned home from my three-month trip, Sahid brought my father a small jar filled with spicy chili chutney.

Beautiful Himalayan Villages in India: For Those Who Want to Escape the Cities

There are a ton of things to do, as recommended in this Dharamkot Weekend Guide such as going hiking to a nearby No Name Waterfall or doing the popular Triund Trek or heading to McLeodganj and exploring the town or going cafe hopping in the Dharamkot market, or a ton of other things, including just chilling and enjoying the charm of the Himalayas. Even though Kinnaur Valley is known for the majestic mountains and the vivid greenery, since Nako village is located at the far end of Kinnaur, near Spiti Valley (a cold desert), the topography of the village resembles that of Spiti – a barren land with lack of vegetation. Jayanti is a small forest village located along the Jayanti river in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Simanta from The Random Trotters shares about one of his favorite villages in Arunachal Pradesh: Sangti Village in West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh Lying in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas
