15 months after giving birth to their 3rd child it was time for the Spokane home water-birth of their 4th child. Using Spokane River Midwives again to support her home-birth plan they welcomed their son after a relatively quick labor. With only a few pushes, their 4th child emerges from the waters at 12:08 am, making an April 2nd arrival. After getting out of the birth pool, Casey and Natalie ventured back to their bedroom for the birth exam with Spokane River Midwives.

When Mallory contacted me to talk birth photography she knew the birth of their 2nd child would be by cesarean at Kootenai Health. She had high hopes of having the full procedure documented and I am thrilled that we were able to provide just that for her. Because her cesarean was scheduled and not an emergency I was able to be with them the entire time, through intake up until family was welcomed back to meet their newest miracle. It’s going with the flow and having a backup to your backup plan. Missing holidays with your family, not being able to commit to dinners out with friends, skipping out on that concert 2 hours from home because it falls within your on-call time, it’s running on little to no sleep at times, being awake for 24+ hours supporting a laboring mama. It’s a high honor to hold space for a family, an absolute joy and delight to document one of the most important moments in life. It’s knowing that you’re willing to move mountains to be with your clients, day or night.

As a Spokane Maternity Photographer I love documenting families as it is almost time to welcome their babe. When Kari contacted me we scheduled her family maternity session in Spokane to take place right around 34 weeks. It was the perfect time to capture her family of 3 before becoming a family of 4. The evening was perfect, slightly warm with a little breeze and yummy golden light.
