On some days, it’s a light-hearted and fun topic, while on other days it’s a little more serious. : There were many ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ during this conversation, as we all discovered something new to help us in our day-to-day tasks. It’s amazing to learn about all the exciting things happening out in the world, but it can be easy to forget that the person we sit next to or work with on a team has an interesting story or background as well. Whether it’s over a selection of Boston’s finest lunch, or over a glass of wine in the kitchen on a Friday, there’s always an opportunity to learn and grow from your co-workers.
This year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018) experienced disasters: heavy rainfall and flooding in Vegas surprised all the sun-seekers on day one. LaunchSquad and SimpliSafe worked together to launch the Boston-based home security company’s third generation system, which had been in the works for four years. Through the remaining days of CES, media outlets like Consumer Reports, The Boston Globe and Design Milk covered the launch of the the new SimpliSafe system from a variety of angles. Articles ranged from broad roundups of favorite tech seen at CES, the latest and greatest DIY home security products, and even a feature in The Boston Globe that tells the story of how SimpliSafe is responding to big-name competition.
At all times, you are a breath away from the weighty feeling of panic that accompanies stepping away from your desk for a second only to return to notifications for additional, unanticipated projects. Recently, we sat down with Senior Account Executive Annie Betz to discuss useful time management and organization techniques, and learn more about how we at LaunchSquad manage stress. When you’re feeling slammed, find someone who can take an objective look at your workload and help you (calmly) map out a plan of attack. Take the time to find what works for you, whether it’s bouncing ideas off a nearby coworker or taking a quick walk to clear your mind.
LaunchSquad is partnered with The Possible Project, a Cambridge-based nonprofit organization that uses entrepreneurship as a framework to help close skill and opportunity gaps for young people. The Possible Project (TPP) students, on the other hand, spend their days thinking about customer segmentation, budgeting, distribution logistics and manufacturing costs, all in addition to the everyday high school struggles of calculus and Faulkner. Partnering with TPP has given LaunchSquad the privilege to not only help a whip-smart group of high schoolers hone in on their professional ventures, but also dial deeper into our own work as communications professionals. Digging in at the earliest stage as a (pitch panel) judge showed us the entrepreneurs’ ideas at the rawest stage and helped us shape their paths” said Mike Farber, partner and founder of LaunchSquad’s Boston office.
