A mantra can be a positive phrase, quote, or saying that you repeat to yourself as inspiration or motivation to becoming your best self. Affirmations are positive self-talk and self-love that we repeat over and over so as to actually BECOME the words we are speaking. I have always turned to my mantra when I want to snap out of a bad mood or uplift my train of thought, (or get through a boring workout), but today I had the realization that I have gotten to a place where even when I am in a good mood I am still repeating those four words that have become special to me… The intentional repeating of my mantra over the years has become natural and subconscious self-talk.
Just took a short little social media detox and I’m already a changed woman (and I’m also kinda wondering why I am ALREADY back on Instagram? ) We have all heard that the more time you spend on social media the more likely you are to compare your life to everyone else’s and feel some sort of stress or impact on your self-esteem. Last week I was feeling anxious about my own life, yet every other person on social media was living in a perfect, amazing, exciting world and With notifications off, I won’t constantly feel the need to be staring at my phone, need to endlessly refresh my home page, or get distracted every time I get a new “like.
We always hear “New week, New goals … but honestly it’s been “New week, SAME goals” for about a month now. But a couple of days ago I caught myself wondering if this new diet and way of eating made sense for my lifestyle. It’s been about a month since I set this new goal, and I feel embarrassed to admit that I just have not been able to commit to this new plan as much as I would have liked.
Here’s the thing: on this trip my phone did not work. I wasn’t receiving any calls or notifications so my phone did not need to be in my hand or on the table at any moment of the trip. So this weekend I snapped the picture and my phone was back immediately in my bag so that I could be back reminiscing with my friends, taking in the beautiful views or taking shots of Aguardiente Is your phone the first thing you check when you wake up and the last thing you look at when you go to bed?
