Dreaming of devil’s food cake donuts at Christmas time… hmmm, I hope Santa doesn’t mind. Who could blame me when these donuts taste like luscious devil’s food cake though… after all it’s just the chocolate version of angel’s food cake, right? This comes together very easily, and the baking soda reacts with the cacao in a way to insure the deeper color and also the fluffy tenderness that devil’s food cake is known for. In a small bowl (I used the glass measuring cup with the eggnog in it), stir the eggnog, maple syrup, coconut oil, flax egg, and vanilla extract together.

I’m actually going to be making a vegan pumpkin cheesecake, and I’ll have to share that recipe another time. Oh and I also have a vegan brownie recipe that doesn’t taste vegan either. It may look like a very decadent, very lush chocolate cake… ok it is a very non-traditional, very decadent lush chocolate cake, BUT the dreamy creamy chocolate filling has pumpkin purée.
It’s a great alternative to bananas if don’t like their taste, can’t eat them, or want a more subtle flavor.
