Guide to Oktoberfest on a Budget

I knew I wanted to come back for Oktoberfest but didn’t realize I would come back so soon. I went for a mid range one that cost about $60 as I personally didn’t like the neon colors of the less expensive ones (around $40). The real deal authentic dirndl cost around $120+ and I didn’t want to shell out that much money for 2 days. The Oktoberfest festival is free to get into, as well as the tents, it’s everything else that costs money.

48 Hours in Brussels

Although I didn’t have very long in Brussels, I jammed as much as I could see into just about two days in Brussels. Where I stayed:  A short 1 mile walk from the train station, walking through the heart of Brussels, I stayed at the Meininger Hotel Brussels City Center. It could have just been  my situation, as people in my room were friendly, but Brussels seemed more of a stop over and a place to catch up on sleep for them. I enjoyed that meal at Cafe Walvis (the cutest cafe right around the corner from the hostel) accompanied by a delicious beer from Brussels Beer Project.

Best of Bruges Belgium on a Budget

I attended the night walking tour and learned a lot of history about Bruges. The tour ended with a free beer at the hostel. We tried the two types of belgian waffles, fries, beer, and numerous types of chocolates! There are two types of waffles, there is the Brussels waffle (which are very light and crispy) and there is the Liege waffle (as pictured above).
