EV Connect and its site host partners have deployed nearly 400 EV Connect-managed stations under Southern California Edison’s Charge Ready pilot program. Charge Ready is SCE’s pilot program to get more electric vehicle charging stations installed in away-from-home locations where people park their cars for extended periods of time, such as workplaces, campuses, recreational areas and apartment and condominium complexes. The goal of these demand response events was to reduce electricity loads by 50 percent across all EV charging locations enrolled in the SCE Charge Ready program. When charge stations did not support adjustable charging speeds, EV Connect applied duty-cycling techniques, turning off half of a location’s charging stations for 15 minutes and then turning off the other half throughout each event.
EV Connect charge stations are now available on PlugShare. For the first time, PlugShare users benefit from real-time station status. More than 245,000 PlugShare members use the PlugShare app every day to locate charging stations. With real-time PlugShare integration, more EV drivers can easily locate EV Connect stations and ensure those stations are available when they need them.
