The American Southwest has inspired artists and musicians for decades so is it really any surprise that the fashion industry has picked up the mantle and incorporated the unmistakable earthy boho style into their SS19 runways? Dusty pink highlights work great together with the desert palette and you can add more interest to the palette with some pops of teal, purple, cyan blue, and turquoise, inspired also by natural elements of the landscapes such as sky and stones. Include iconic Southwestern elements such as Navajo prints, western boots, serape weaving, macrame accents, embroidery, denim, cactus motifs, turquoise jewels and of course fringe! | Coach Double Frame Crossbody| Vintage Belt | Donald Pliner Velle Bootie | Pearl Barrette | Vintage Denim Jacket | Click to SHOP some of my favorite Southwestern Inspired Finds:
Dainty necklaces and classic hoops have been ruling the accessory scene for quite some time now, but this spring, it’s time to have some fun with your jewelry again. We saw them in the form of throwback charm belts at Gucci and Chanel, as floral adorned handbag chains at Versace, statement making earrings at Oscar de la Renta and bold stacked bracelets at Carolina Herrera. Last weekend Coach at the Forum Shops at Ceasars hosted an exclusive blogger event where we were invited to view and shop the limited edition Ss19 Trunk Show The Santa Fe Inspired Collection embraces the hues of the southwest desert landscape with pieces that look like the stepped straight out of a Georgia O’Keefe painting paired with edgy elements that create a brand new genre that I am oh-so down with: Prairie Punk. Fringe, patchwork appliques, soft leathers, metal stud details and concho buckles mix with iconic Disney elements to result in a collection that is equal parts light and dark, new yet vintage. Disney characters are used in the most lovely tongue-in-cheek way, replacing traditional micro florals on Coach’s signature prairie dresses, skirts, bags and scarves delivering just right amount of whimsy.
Last week I shared that when I first heard of the tie-dye trend I made a “yuck” face So the thought of wrapping my body up in a snake print- especially one with a snake texture- gave me the major hebbie jeebies, but (just like with tie-dye) once I settled down and watched the Spring 2019 runway shows I gained a whole new appreciation for this cold-blooded, slithery print. From Gucci’s uber chic wide leg snakeskin trousers and Philosophy’s dreamy ruffle-collared reptile-print tops to Saint Laurent’s slouchy snakeskin print boots and Off White’s statement making neon snake print dresses, there really is something seriously sophisticated about this serpentine pattern which makes it a great addition to your spring wardrobe and here’s why…….
