Marburg is a town located just South of Port Shepstone (often considered to be a part of Port Shepstone) on the South Coast of the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is the automotive hub of the KZN South Coast in which you will find anything from scrapyards to distributors of new and used spare parts, panel beaters, mechanics, propshaft, transmission and gearbox workshops, brake and clutch repairs, exhaust systems and more. Their concerns usually stem around trust issues because of the few bad eggs which have over decades, anywhere in the world, been conniving profit seekers whose integrity was as secure as a blown engine. The concept of a ‘Creative Art Holiday’ was something I would not have immediately related to art and crafts, and didn’t, when I first heard of it from Heidi Beyers a few years ago. Art can also be the creation of something unseen which plays itself out in our daily lives, like culture and lifestyle, new approaches to business through which people are united through constructive creativity. But if I am right, then I see no reason why we can’t develop a new type of reward for work system where we actually use holidays as a time to explore our own creativity, discover new talents we never realised existed or develop those we suspect we may possess. As South Africans I feel the creative art holiday, in whichever form, be it writing, painting, speaking, acting or any other can be adopted as a way to ensure creativity becomes part of our national identity … a way to creating a cohesive society with a definite aspect to our national identity.

It’s green, it has the ultimate weather, the birdlife is awesome, it is wild, generally unmodernized and retains much of it’s old look and feel when it comes to the smaller towns along the way. The South Coast, which is located along the East Coast of South Africa, remains one of the holiday Mecca’s for local and international travellers. There are numerous shuttle companies who operate between the Airport in the North down to Port Edward in the far South and the Wild Coast at very affordable rates. The costs were somewhere between R140 to R210 from King Shaka Airport in the North to Port Edward in the far South and beyond to the Wild Coast Sun.

When I started out applying my mind to the internet, how it works and what the great World Wide Web can do for me, I often balked at the idea of the hours I had to spend on my computer, learning. But learn I did, and 11 years later there are a few internet insights which, if small business owners apply them, can grow their ‘web worth’ in a way which presents their company in a professional and compact package to people surfing the internet for specific services. Too often it ends up in frustration, unfinished business listings on soon forgotten directories, dormant social media pages and lots of money spent on connection fee There are business owners out there who allocate time and data and get reasonable ROI through a combination of relevant paid and free directories, classifieds, social media platforms and online networks.
