The concept of a ‘Creative Art Holiday’ was something I would not have immediately related to art and crafts, and didn’t, when I first heard of it from Heidi Beyers a few years ago.
Art can also be the creation of something unseen which plays itself out in our daily lives, like culture and lifestyle, new approaches to business through which people are united through constructive creativity.
But if I am right, then I see no reason why we can’t develop a new type of reward for work system where we actually use holidays as a time to explore our own creativity, discover new talents we never realised existed or develop those we suspect we may possess.
As South Africans I feel the creative art holiday, in whichever form, be it writing, painting, speaking, acting or any other can be adopted as a way to ensure creativity becomes part of our national identity … a way to creating a cohesive society with a definite aspect to our national identity.
