Dippy on tour in Glasgow! Kelvingrove Museum day out #dippyontour + video

On our half term travels we were so excited to learn that Dippy the iconic dinosaur from the Natural History Museum, London was on tour and would be at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum while we were there. The atmosphere was brilliant and really exciting and everyone was wide eyed, kids with huge smiles and photos being taken left, right and centre. We found going to the fossil area of the museum really exciting too as she got very excited seeing the fossil fish scales and that also helped her understand the impressions more clearly. The Kelvingrove museum also has some excellent animal displays, and fossil displays with brilliant explanations for kids.

Hasbro Toilet Trouble Flushdown game for National Poop Day

A couple of weeks ago I received an email which left we quite bemused, telling me that National Poop Day was coming up in February, and asking if I’d like to review Hasbro’s Toilet Trouble Flushdown game to celebrate. However, I was more than pleased to, as poop is a major factor in crohn’s disease, and of course any way I can help to raise awareness of Crohn’s, bowel diseases and obviously the big C word as well. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and I can safely say I’ve seen so many doctors and there is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed about talking about poo, it’s form, or anything about it. Toilet Trouble Flushdown is a fast-paced game from Hasbro in which players race to spin their rolls of toilet paper the fastest to spray their opponent.

Book review helping childhood anxiety

The Stress Goblin’s Hat follows the adventures of the Stress Goblin as he tries to catch his magical hat before it is too late. I do think this booked helped reinforce ideas of how she should deal with certain situations and even just using the story as a basis for remembering incidents where she’s been upset or stressed and how she could have got over it or what the child should have done if the hat wasn’t making them upset. The Stress Goblin’s Hat is an engaging picture book for children age 3-7 created to give children the ability to identify when they are feeling stresses and the tools that they need to deal with it. The Stress Goblin’s hat is a bit different to H’s usual favourite books where she’s currently choosing fairies, princesses and unicorn books.

Easy toddler Valentine’s Day card

I discovered this super easy way to make a valentines card/picture for daddy, right from when H was 14 months old. All you need is some paper or card, an old pizza box (or similar), scissors, blue tack, and some crayons. Remove the heart and if it’s coloured in a lot, and it’s obviously a heart, it’s all finished. I’ve written quite a number of toddler crafty posts before including: how to make a toddler felt board, easy peasy hand and footprints, and a favourite make of mine, which H had great fun with, how to make a toddler teepee!
