Make-A-Wish® America: How to Balance Adult-ing and Volunteering as a Recent Graduate

Recently, I asked Make-A-Wish employee and wish granter Britni Jensen the age-old question: Do we ever really leave the nest? Second, I came across a story in the news about wish kid Randall, who recently received his college tuition wish and will pursue his dream of becoming a pediatric cardiologist. A: The best advice I’ve ever received about life after college is to just enjoy it and not stress too much about having everything figured out. The things and people that matter in life will allow you to fill your life with other things that make you happy – including volunteering!

Make-A-Wish® America: Reflections for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

We were often separated from our infant son, Colin, as we made frequent trips to Children’s Hospital Colorado for Liam’s appointments, surgeries and treatments. On Sept. 24 (almost a year to the date of Liam’s diagnosis), our family left for Liam’s camping adventure wish trip. Two weeks after Liam’s wish trip, we returned to Children’s Hospital Colorado where, for the first time, we heard the “r It’s not lost on me that both Liam’s diagnosis and his Make-A-Wish trip happened in the month of September, which also happens to be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
