Abundance 😌 The San marzano tomatoes are finally coming in after a very discouraging start - so much so that I can’t keep up! I made about 4 jars of sauce from this harvest yesterday and I still have tomatoes left over so it looks like this will be our diet for the next few weeks 😂 hard to complain, though, when it’s so freaking tasty! ##Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #gardening #garden #gardenlove

It wouldn’t be a beach trip without a little trash walk. @dunkin this you? 👀 #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

Let’s talk upcycling: I never let a good glass jar go to waste (as much as those I’ve lived with have wished I had 😂). In our household, we use old glass jars as drinking glasses, Tupperware, jars for homemade pickles and kimchi, vases for flowers, pencil jars, reusable straw storage, you name it. What are some creative ways you’ve reused jars? #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

Just a week filled with my favorite things: the farm, pottery, and reading 😌 This book has been on my list FOREVER, so I’m excited to tackle it on vacation starting on Saturday 📚☀️ #farm #gardening #book #booklover #bookstagram #booknerd #bookaddict #readmorebooks #pottery #zerowaste #ecofriendly #lowwasteliving

My camera roll is just pictures from my garden 😂 What is everyone else growing this summer?? #gardening #garden #gardenlife #gardenlove #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

Recipe ⬇️ 1/3 cup oats 3 cups water 2 tsp maple syrup (I get a little generous with my portions here) 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Pinch of salt Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for about 30 seconds to a minute. Strain through a fine cloth or strainer. Save your oat scraps for recipes like cookie dough bites or banana breads! The strained liquid is your oat milk and can be refrigerated or used immediately 😊 #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

As someone who has over 50 houseplants and has had a fair share of unsuccessful attempts, these are my top recommendations if you want plants that last! I would also add philodendron to this list and tell you to be weary of succulents - they are very low maintenance, but they do need more love than you realize. Bottom watering has been my saving grace to make sure they all get watered and loved without overdoing it 🌵 Did I miss any easy plants on this list?? #plantlover #plantlife #plantlove #houseplants #houseplantsofinstagram #houseplantclub #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney

Put the Sunly sunscreen from @attitude_living to the test with 2 very long hikes in the sun on our trip to Colorado, and I have to say - it held up. We sweat a LOT and were in the sun for a solid 6-7 hours and didn’t get burnt. Love that it’s plastic-free 😊 (Not sponsored. I did receive the sunscreen through a mailing list, but was not asked to make a post, nor to give positive feedback. I do not post any products I don’t 100% love or agree with) #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

Summer reads 😌📚 I haven’t read a 5-star book in a minute, so I’m hoping these 2 will come through for me! All summer reading recommendations are welcome and encouraged - please help me fill my beach reads!! #book #bookstagram #booklover #beachread #summerreading #bookaddict #bookcommunity #bookrecommendations

Happy gardening season!! 👩‍🌾 My new place has raised garden beds, which hasn’t deterred the wildlife in my yard one bit lol Can’t wait to update as things start to ripen and grow! #garden #gardening #beginnersgarden #gardenlove #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood

My goal for this year is to share more easy ways to make an impact that don’t require a lot of time or money. There are so many ways to do this, but we’ll start with these 3! 1) At the beginning of every year, I go through and unsubscribe to every email list that I no longer want to be a part of. About halfway through the year, I do the same. It makes my inbox more manageable and helps reduce the amount of emails I’m storing. 2) Support sustainable accounts and companies! If you can’t make a purchase, even just engaging with their content will help them bring in more people and increase their reach. Some of my favorites include @bareelementsllc , @elliotreidboutique , @taystcoffee , @addjoi to name a few 😊 3) Make your voice heard! There are so many petitions and pre-written letters (feel free to customize) that you can sign & send to your local officials around environmental advocacy. #Ecofriendly #eco #zerowaste #zerowasteliving #wastefree #wastefreeliving #sustainable #sustainability #sustainableliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastehome #zerowastelifestyle #zerowastetips #zerowastelife #zerowastejourney #zerowastefood #environmentalist

How to Live a Zero Waste Lifestyle

When you start your journey of transitioning to a zero waste lifestyle, you may feel tempted to buy all of the fun zero waste alternatives. Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, and if all else fails, Recycle While it’s better than trash, recycling should not be the goal when going zero waste. If you must buy items, try to avoid single-use items or anything with plastic packaging. Once you have used up the single-use items in your home, you can start purchasing reusable or eco-friendly replacements.

Zero Waste or Recycling? What is the True Difference?

If you are recycling items and not throwing them away, is that zero waste? Instead of single-use or short-term items, those of us living zero waste lifestyles opt for items that can be continuously reused. While composting is the best alternative to food waste, and something many zero waste individuals use, there are some other ways you can reduce your food waste. To get started on your zero waste journey, check out month one in our guide to going zero waste.

10 Things You Can Do Today to be More Eco-Friendly

While there are so many different things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint, reduce your waste, and be a better consumer, it’s always best to start small. If you’re ready to go fully zero waste, check out month one of our monthly guide to going zero waste. A super-easy way to reduce energy usage in your home is to switch your old incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs. Look for companies who avoid fast fashion, sell second-hand, use sustainable materials, use recycled materials, pay ethical wages, avoid palm oil, etc.

How to Go Zero Waste: Month Two

You’re on your second month in your journey to going zero waste. Either way, this month is going to be a great step in the right direction for your zero waste journey. You’re left with a highly nutritious broth and you’ve taken full advantage of your food scraps. Either reuse the plastic produce bags from your last trip, purchase reusable produce bags, create your own DIY produce bags, or simply put the food in your cart without one.
