Businesswoman Amy is a lifestyle curator and photographer. But, at my core, I’m a military spouse of ten years and a mama to two sweet girls. Amy Rae + Co is dedicated not only to producing authentic imagery, but also taking you behind the scenes to share in my passions, struggles, and lessons learned as a woman, mother, and entrepreneur. I inspire others looking to tell their story and create intentional space to find joy, be their best self, and spark more mindful moments-big or small-with those they hold close to their heart.
I remember getting off work at Target and arriving at the super bowl party still in my red shirt and khaki pants. Our friends were all there ready for a fun evening. It was Tom Brady’s rookie year! There was a moment when no one was around and he turned towards me and said something along the lines “why don’t we make this official? Will you be my girlfriend?” I said “yes”! No one but us knew. On February 3, 2002 we officially started dating. Just 16 and 17 years old. Who would have thought 20 years later we would have lived in 6 states, had two girls, 1 dog, and years of adventure together! Today is a day worth celebrating because what we have is rare and only God gets the credit for why we are still together, thriving in marriage and life! Happy 20 year dativersary! 🎉💕 Photo: @laurafoote 📸
How have you felt so far this year? Is 2022 the year you make about you? Is it the year you decide to invest in yourself when no one else has? Have you been left questioning your health and wellness with little to no answers? I can’t say I have all the answers but I’m willing to fight alongside you to help you dig into the root-cause of why you are feeling tired, bloated, unhappy, unmotivated, emotional, or just unsure that your body is operating optimally! Let’s dig together and discover why that bandaid approach to your wellness is only ignoring what is happening upstream (check my stories for why this is important). I’m looking to partner with a few people who are willing to share about their ups and downs in their health and want to make some lasting changes! If that is you will you message me so we can chat more?
I have some exciting news to share with you: I've been keeping a secret for a while! 🤭 Over the past couple of years, we've all experienced some unexpected events that may have led us down paths that we never imagined. For me, change was inevitable, and though I've been making a slow transition into something new, today is the day I make it official! In 2020, I went through @jane_johnson’s planner and the theme for the year was Isaiah 43:19. "𝔽𝕠𝕣 𝕀 𝕒𝕞 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕕𝕠 𝕤𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕟𝕖𝕨. 𝕊𝕖𝕖, 𝕀 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒𝕝𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕪 𝕓𝕖𝕘𝕦𝕟! 𝔻𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕤𝕖𝕖 𝕚𝕥?" My intentions for 2020-2021 were to slow down from work, commit to my own self-care, and engage with my family and community. Yet, through all this, something new was growing. For 15 years, I've photographed so many dear people during some of the most significant milestones of their lives. I was invited to document and celebrate these big days, and I am honored knowing they have photos that will be shared over generations. What a privilege it was to do that work for so long! It is something I hold tightly to, and it's hard to let go. Deep breaths! I'm officially closing Amy Rae Photography as it's not the right fit for my future goals and my family's needs. Slowly, over the past few years, I could see how God was stripping away my business, and I know it's the right time to move on. My struggle is that I still love photography and my camera. I still feel like I'm good at what I do and feel passionate about others having photos of their special moments. But I also know there are many excellent photographers out there that will carry on that legacy! So when one door closes, usually another door opens and I'm stepping into something new! I'm sharing more on my stories about how I'm diving into the health and wellness world and training to be a functional medicine practitioner so that I can help other women feel their best! I hope that you can celebrate change with me! 🎉 Maybe this will encourage you to dive into the things you've been holding back from! Change is scary, but this feels good! I'm excited to take you with me on this new journey.
We’ve been dealing with some heavy things related to this move but these photos right here remind me where I need to keep my perspective. This move hasn’t always felt smooth or easy. We haven’t felt settled. But we still have each other and even the simplest times can still be the best of times. Learning to have gratitude each day. I can see it in these photos. I think @laurafoote could too!! ✨I was having a hard time but these photos were a reminder of all the good things here and I know more are yet to come!

It’s honesty hour, friends! I’m seeing all of you getting into the spirit of fall, the weather cooling down, your homes being transformed into cozy places your family can be together. And I’m struggling! 🍁🎃 Fall to me is just the start of a season where cultivating family time is the most precious for me. We love spending weekends watching movies together, cooking chili and apple crisp, and enjoying football games. I miss not having a little yard work or a kitchen to clean because friends are coming over. Our family is just crying to feel settled here in our new city! We want to have our things that are familiar, cuddle with our favorite blankets, eat from our own plates, sleep in our own bed, ride our bikes, and play with our toys. We can’t have any of our stuff until our house is ready. And today another bomb was dropped on us, adding 2.5 months to the already delayed completion date. 💣 I’m trying to lean into what the Lord might be teaching me in this season. Maybe patience or contentment? Things could be worse and so many are dealing with much harder circumstances. Our plans are not always His plans and there is a good reason for everything. A glorious one! So I might not get to decorate with pumpkins and flying bats. I may not even get to put up a Christmas tree this year or host family for Thanksgiving. But we are all still together, we are healthy, and we are still making great memories even if they aren’t how we imagined.
Adoption is very close to my heart. My husband is adopted, our other family members are adopted and it is also how we grew our family. I feel called to help others on their adoption journey whether that is just to encourage them, offer insight, or simply pray as they walk this path. For our adoption process we chose to work with a consultant to help us through each step and to allow us access to several agencies to hopefully connect with a birth mom. There are so many way you can adopt but this was the best option for us. I’ve shared in detail on this on my blog if you want to read more. Earlier this year I accepted a position as assistant to our consultant @jonnilyn_spinks! I get the privilege of working behind the scenes managing her clients and keeping her organized so she can fully support each family through their adoption! I’m honored to be working with such a wonderful team at @christianadoptionconsultants and to play a small role in supporting this mission!
Three years ago we had just stayed up late into the morning hours packing for an unexpected trip. We were boarding a plane while a hurricane was about to make landfall. Our world was about to change forever. So many emotions swirled on that day! We had opened our hearts to adoption but that didn’t mean there was a lack of fear or insecurity! With faith we stepped into the unknown, knowing that this was the path for us. One step at a time brought us to this girl! I still think I’m living only by the strength of God many days. Raising girls is not for the faint of heart! Kendall is pure excitement for all things, she is fearless, powerful, and a full ball of energy! I can barely keep up with her but the Lord knew I was meant to be here mama and she was meant to be my daughter! Happy 3rd Birthday, Kendall! 🎂🎉
Today is launch day for the 2022 Simplified Planner from @emilyley! Planners go on sale at 10am EST! 💞🎉 I've been using my planner all year to keep focused on my daily tasks, monitor my homeschooling progress, organize everyone's schedule in the house, and making what matters most happen! My favorite trick for keeping things organizing is assigning each person a color and using a corresponding highlighter to mark their schedule in my planner. Spoiler...there are new highlighters launching that match the happy stripe colors! 😲 For 2022 I'm going with the classic thin happy stripe! It reminds me of starting fresh and having the freedom to make my year however I want it to be. I included a link in my profile to take you straight to the @simplified site so you can order your planner and new accessories before they sell out! 👆🏻
Celebrated 15 years of marriage over the weekend! In some ways it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long but when I think back on these years some of it feels like a lifetime ago. We’ve been through so much joy these years and our share of challenges! That is what makes it all so sweet! I’m thankful to have this partner to go through this life by my side! 💖
Here we are again! The first day of school! I wasn’t sure how this day would go and we aren’t as prepared as I would prefer but overall it was a happy and successful day! After having her home with me all last year I may have shed some tears saying goodbye to my sweet girl. We are excited to be back in a hybrid school and to have the benefits of both worlds! Most of all I’m just so proud of how she went right on in to this new school where she doesn’t know anyone and didn’t seem the least bit fearful! She is such a brave girl! #missbrooklynlee
