During all three pregnancies the realization that my child would have a 50% chance of having OI was something everyone struggled with. I didn’t have anyone with OI in my household to help me the way I could help my child with OI. I also would get my child on bone treatments that weren’t available to me until age 12. Now here is the other side of it, my child would learn about unimaginable strength, determination, heartache and struggles that a child with OI might not have to learn.

At that time in my life I was not mentally strong enough to handle trolls and negative talk about other people’s opinion of whether or not I should have a baby or not. yes I have had to ask for help at times but guess what all moms ask for help, get in sticky situations, needed to rely on their support systems. He’s helped as much as he could but at the end of the day it’s been mostly on my shoulders as the stay at home mom (just like other moms). I have never ever put Maven in danger and if I felt like there was a potential outcome of danger I asked for help!
