Second sketch on my sketch book. Prompt: your favorite park. I used to love hiking in Runyon Canyon. There were ton of other beautiful parks in L.A but it was so accesible, enjoyable and once una while you would run into a Ryan Gosling.

A little Saturday drawing ✍️. My meditation

A Christmas painting, some cozy family time and a little Christmas thought: 🤔 💭 I love to question, learn, observe, make huge mistakes and the laugh and say “what was I thinking”, I am a full wholeheartedly participant in life. But when in comes to tradition, I tend to participate cautiously and quietly questioning. Whether this is good or bad this is how I operate and I’ve come to accept it and appreciate this personality trait. For some, Christmas is the birth of christ and they celebrate and meditate on what that means in their lives. For historians this is a pagan celebration of winter solstice that got appropriated by Christians. For others it’s pure consumerism and completely deny that Jesus ever existed. For me it’s all of it, it is a celebration of all of it. The questioning, the doubts, the believe in a god whether you choose to call him Jesus or not, its a celebration of all of life and its beautiful-messy-sparkly nature. It all sparkles and shines, it all smells like warm baked pies and cozy pijamas. The real beauty though, in my eyes are the choices we have, the liberty in celebrating whatever, with whomever and however we want to celebrate. For me personally I choose to celebrate what I know to be real, I choose to celebrate what from my experience makes life more beautiful and that is generosity, kindness, friendship, family which all funnels down to love. Love as acts out of a pure feeling, empty of blinding feelings such as anger and fear. So, merry Christmas, here’s to participating full and wholeheartedly in life and if you choose to participate full and wholeheartedly in consumerism or paganism or Christianity, or anti-consumerism, or christmas, etc! May that celebration be done with love and freedom. --

Whoa 😳 I haven’t posted in almost a month! I seem to only be able to focus on one thing at a time 😅. I was busy doing some design work for clients and couldn’t think of what to paint or draw. I’ve had a couple of friends ask me to draw Kamala Harris and that is on my to do list! For now I’d like to attempt to be timely and focus on today. Yes on being thankful but aside from being thankful being present! Let’s be present to what we have and what makes us similar and no so much on what makes us different. Let’s focus on the fact that although we seem divided we are not. The planet is one and that is a fact. Everything is perfectly interconnected. We simply operate through different paradigms and value different things and that is ok! We don’t all have to think exactly the same to respect and honor each other. And because creativity is my super power here are some thank you card I created to make it easy for you to be present to what connects us. I’d like to celebrate this woman, this is why: we‘ve all seen her image a million times everywhere, on walls, magazines, hand bags, beauty products, you name it. But what is it about her that makes her so fascinating? Her accomplishment as an Artist? Perhaps, but it’s not her work that we see everywhere. It’s her, her image, her face. We gravitate towards this image because there is a certain beauty in her realness, there a sense of freedom in it. A woman who decided to rock an unibrow and a mustache in the 20s and 30s despite it not being the norm. She created her own rules, she celebrated her roots. She wasn’t ashamed of who she was and this is freeing. As women we sometimes create standards for ourselves so unrealistic that instead of freeing us they create invisible cages around our spirit. We scroll through Social media and see one too many flat tummies, big eyes, big red lips, symmetrical faces, round butts, big boobs and by the time we arrive at the image of ourselves, hate and shame is the only feeling in our body. We loath ourselves by comparing our genetic inheritance to other women’s . We’ve allowed people to create standards for our beauty and this debilitates our spirit. The self hate and shame that come as a byproduct of these beauty standards are quite disgusting and little by little we have to begin to set ourselves free from them. Do I write this because I’m way beyond all of this? Nope, I write this because I experience this myself and if I experience this I assume there are many other women who feel the same. So today I invite you to say “ I don’t give a f***” Today I won’t wear make-up or perhaps I will but because I want to, not because I have to. I will work out to feel great not because I want to look like someone else whose genetic composition is completely different than mine. Today I will not blow dry my hair and celebrate my waves and frizz. Remember, often the most spiritual and self loving statement a woman can repeat is “I don’t give a f***”. I constantly battle with this inner rebel that has been responsible for freeing me but at times it also holds me captive. Whenever I see other artists painting the same things I automatically head the other way but I have to fight my ego this time and pay a tribute to this amazing woman. I admire the quiet courage she had. She was consistent and slowly but steadily paved the way for women. So the least I can do is say I acknowledge her work through my expression. Happy first of the month! This painting is of the Kogui people of Colombia. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. I had the privilege of spending some with them and the huitoto people. That experience changed me forever. Well, I allowed the experience to change me. I was there with a beginners mind and turned off my conditioning to simple observe. The result was the most beautiful and enriching experience of my life.
