Highlights
Rosehip, Lavender, Geranium & Carrot Seed Serum

Rosehip oil takes centre stage for this serum and as it’s a dry oil, it absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn’t block pores. This isn’t an advert, they just have a great selection of products and the service is excellent, so that’s why I’m sharing them on here. These are all the ingredients you’ll need to make the serum: Organic Cold Pressed Rosehip oil - choosing organic means that the crop has been grown without pesticides, herbicides and it contains no harmful chemicals or parabens. Carrot Seed oil - rich in antioxidants and contains vitamins C and E. Perfect for mature skin as it’s also a natural anti-aging remedy.

Seagulls Refills, Leeds & Live Green Book Event

The wonderful Jar Tree in Leeds market sells dried goods like basmati rice, nuts, spices and loose lasagne sheets as well as household goods and personal care items (you can check out the full stock list here). Also in Leeds city centre is Ecotopia based in the County Arcade and they sell dried goods, household products and offer a great range of zero waste recipe kits. In Chapel Allerton, you can find the newly opened The Refilling Station on Harrogate Road who sell loose pantry ingredients, natural beauty products and household supplies. They have recently turned the rear of the premises into a refill store, offering customers eco products at reasonable prices that also help to support the great work that they do in the community.

January 2019

Below is my plan for January: January goal - Put up new hook in porch for brushes/dustpan etc We have a small entrance porch to our home We don’t really use it for coats or shoes, instead it’s normally stuffed full of gardening equipment, half used paint cans and several golfing umbrellas (why we ever had golfing umbrellas January goal - Use envelope system for groceries, fuel, entertainment etc. We often have vegan meals for dinner like curries and pasta dishes but we do also like frittatas and veg chilli with cheese and sour cream so I will continue to eat these when we are all having the same meal.

Winter Reads / Pay It Forward

Anne Tyler’s books are always superb and I think she’s one of the finest writers alive today. As much as I enjoyed Emily and Charlotte’s novels, it was always Anne Bronte’s novels that I was drawn to most. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is one of my favourite books of all time and yet Anne’s work is often overlooked in favour of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. ‘ I also found myself shedding a little tear when I read Samantha’s account of Anne’s death in Scarborough aged only 29.
