From her album Wildfires she has now released ‘Troubadour’, a song that describes her life on the road. The word troubadour is old and Mitchell is an old soul, but she brings to this story her contemporary and hard-earned perspective on the life of an itinerant artist.

So this album’s going to be a bit more heartfelt and not so much about other people’s lives. And then even after I’ve written a song and I’m in Nashville, all we’ve got to do is just hit record on an iPhone and then the song’s there for us to remember. It’s going to be a ten-track album, so it’s going to be nice and punchy with a lot of different flavours on there. It’s got more highs, it’s got more lows, and it just feels organic and the stories are more personal.

After you left that job – and it’s is hard to get established in a different industry, whether it’s music or anything else, you would essentially shifting career in a major way – even in the early days, were there any times when you felt like giving up?
