Every realistic project starts with a dream, and then you add budget, time frame, feasibility, and availability to it and the dream gets altered through great imagination and perseverance until it becomes a real dream – come true. I took the main rectangular post in the middle of the two living rooms and made it something special to look at by making it a hexagon and adding crown molding and trim to it. I used its angles to help create interest in this living room by putting the furniture on an angle as well. I have many more design projects I’ve been working on and I’ll post more photos soon.
* Small wooden eggs to paint or finished eggs to fit in nest Insert the stem of the leaves in the nest if you can and hold them in place with the hot glue. I added about three sprigs of leaves around the edge of the nest and decided to leave room for other floral and my lemon as well. Just put a dab or two of hot glue on the bottom of the nest and press the reindeer moss in place.
Some floating jack-o-lanterns are hung from trees, but we decided to stake our floating jack-o-lanterns in the ground with black painted stakes that become invisible at night! * Foam pumpkins to carve (available at local craft store) * Wooden plate (to be used as a base for the pumpkin) or piece of craft wood Draw the face you want to carve on the foam pumpkin and carve it out using a utility knife or a knife with a serrated edge. To prepare the stand for the floating jack-o-lantern, paint the plate or craft board and the dowel rod black. Then, drill a pilot hole through the center of the plate or craft board and attach the dowel rod to the plate by driving a long screw through the plate into the dowel.
The property that we purchased came with three structures on it, a pump house, a tree house and a garage – the home had already been demolished. However, when the house we were living in sold before we even had new house plans, we knew we needed to find shelter for our family and our cats! They are a bit too French Country for a true man cave, but I’m sure they’ll be booted out of there once the house is built! Now, I’m on a mission to find an outdoor area rug on sale to define the living area, dress the windows (to eliminate the glare on the TV of course), get a grill, and most importantly, find a suitable solution to the agonizing bathroom problem.
