Comprehensive baby sleep support for modern parents
4.5 Month Old Wants to Party at 2 am How to settle, wide awake 4 month old who after feeding at 2 am seems to think his parents should remember their student days and join him bright eyed and bushy tailed at a time even the owl has gone to sleep at. He is down at 630 and up at 7am Which SWAP to Use for a Paci Loving 4 Month Old 4 month old, since birth I’ve been nursing to sleep at bedtime and for naps. #1 – 3 year old limit testing at bedtime…..asking you to come back in the room, asking you to lie on the floor, taking a while to fall asleep. #2 – Almost 2 year old climbing out of crib, fighting bedtime (going into crib), waking up at 4am and not wanting to stay in crib.bedtime is books and singing and cuddling.
There are various approaches to achieving independent sleep (the book outlines at least 7) and it’s safe to say most parents approach this whole “independent sleep” thing with a fair amount of trepidation, so much so that rarely does anybody consider what bedtime will look like after independent sleep has been firmly established. And I’m quite sure they do enjoy them, they’re complaining because they are wise enough to know that the bedtime routine leads to going to bed, something that most kids are not excited to do. But here’s the rub, prior to independent sleep your child didn’t protest going to bed because they were unconscious when they went to bed. If your child successfully falls asleep in under 15 minutes at bedtime, they’re doing great!
A few months ago I finished my book, a 3.5 year effort of sweat, tears, and loneliness (writing is lonely business). When you are an author you get membership to secret underground writer clubs and everybody wants to be your friend because you are an author and are invited to all the best parties. None of those things have happened (yet) but award-winning journalist and podcaster Jane Lindholm graciously invited me to join her on Vermont Edition. before delving into reader/listener questions about consistency, nap battles, independent sleep, big kids waking up at night, boundaries, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
My boys are older but all the books they’re reading (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Lucky Luke, Captain Underpants, Harry Potter, etc.) feature young white boys. With gorgeous illustrations by the illustrator of the also fantastic Caldecott Honor book All the World, this is a great simple board book that will appeal to older babies and toddlers. Little Red Riding Hood with a jungle theme featuring awesome illustrations and nobody dies (Grandma doesn’t get eaten and the lion doesn’t get his head chopped off). Some of her other books get into crushes and early love which my younger boys didn’t love quite as much (because eeewww crushes) but I love them and thus my children are wrong.
