I am a huge fan of aromatherapist Michelle Roques O'Neil and her extremely special wellness meets pampering range and so when her latest newsletter hit my in-box I was delighted to see this new Spring focus kit as well as lot's of inspirational content. Spring is always a time that welcomes renewal and starting over and the newsletter has inspired me to spring clean, cut down on clutter and really take a moment to enjoy what matters. When I saw this new Spring focus kit I was extremely excited, it contains three of Therapies products in generous trial sizes and two of which were new to me: I think this kit is a wonderful introduction to what Therapie have to offer and it's one of my best purchases for a while, all of these products are versatile and perfect for anyone who leads a busy stressful life.
So here's the thing, I review a lot of products on this blog, the story of skincare entrepreneurs not being able to find what they wanted and therefore making it themselves comes up almost more times than I have had hot dinners, what distinguishes Skin and Tonic and gives them a little edge is that everything they do even though it is simple, they do it really well. Their ingredients policy is simple, every product has seven ingredients or less, there is nothing gimmicky here, no star ingredient sourced from the Amazon rainforest or anything we haven't seen before but the products I have tested really don't seem to need anything too novel, they work and they work well. There is a lot of information about their sustainable sourcing and policies which is always reassuring to me, where possible supporting local producers, sourcing from Fair trade women's cooperatives, striving to be carbon neutral, it all get's a big thumbs up from me, in this case details are good, companies take note, don't just tell us your green, tell us why your green! I have two products to review for you, as you can imagine using seven ingredients or less Skin and Tonic's formulas are all water free and therefore preservative free too: Green beauty details: Skin and Tonic are British, 100% natural and uses mostly certified organic ingredients (although don't have an organic certification for the brand), they claim cruelty free status and are independent so no parent company.
I think we can all agree a good deodorant is an essential, there has been a huge amount of negative press towards deodorant, especially the parabens in them which are a preservative and aluminium which is the ingredient that reduces the bodies ability to sweat. I have looked at the information available out there and none of it was conclusive (links to cancer (from parabens) and alzeimers (from aluminium) seem to have been largely dismissed) however, there are also some concerns of the environmental repercussions of Aluminium mining, and this is something that personally does concern me enough to try and find an alternative. You take a small amount and apply to clean dry armpits (I press it in rather than rub, to minimise chances of irritation! ) and that is pretty much it, it keeps odours at bay all day, reduces sweating and hasn't so far caused me any irritation at all (some people are more sensitive than others to the bicarb so that's worth keeping in mind). It lasts all day without having to top up unless of course I have been to the gym and showered, it dries quickly and doesn't stain clothes and really works, all in all I like this much more than my previous deodorants and performance wise
