Succulents have been quite popular in recent years, as I’m sure many of you have noticed. Mom gave me a concrete planter full of succulents as an apartment warming gift back in 2006. The succulents met a untimely death by overwatering in short order. Given my knack for forgetting to water plants, succulents should be right up my alley these days.
In theory, it’s a diet that if adopted all over the world would provide every person the nutrition they require while also being possible given the world’s available land, for a projected population of 10 Billion. It’s not something the entire world can immediately implement, but for those of us with regular access to a variety food in Western countries, it would probably be an improvement over what we’re currently eating. We don’t generally eat a lot of fish living in a land locked province, so if need be the reduction in our current red meat and chicken consumption could be offset there. We’re not opposed to legume and vegetable based meals as it is, and to be honest my meatloaf has already evolved into 1/3 meat, 1/3 vegetables and 1/3 lentils.
I’m ready for lighter colours, fabrics, and everything spring. Every time I’ve thought about taking outfit photos lately, I realized that I was wearing a near replica of the last outfit I posted. It also tells me I’ve found my winter wear sweet spot, and could probably easily put together a three month capsule at this point and pack the rest away until the seasons change. In the meantime, you can find me cuddled up in a thick chunky sweater.
I will note that I’m making changes with my doctor’s blessing. I tend to eat when I’m hungry (or grab a coffee) and forget about eating when I’m not. I’m noticing my body isn’t actually happy when I skip meals or don’t eat for an extended period of time, but old habits die hard. Long story short, for the first half of my menstrual cycle I incorporate ground flax and pumpkin seeds into breakfast, and for the second half I incorporate ground sesame seeds and sunflower seeds into breakfast.
