New Year, Same Bullet Journal

Luckily, in 2019 I switched from the calendar tabs I’d used in previous journals to a smaller set of tabs that weren’t tied to a specific year. Even though a new year would provide the opportunity to make changes to my style, I didn’t feel I needed to make a big change for 2020. The start of a new year isn’t going to change my design aesthetic dramatically, because I’ve been adjusting all along the way in my previous journal. Had I wanted to experiment with a different style or size of notebook, change the monthly tabs I’ve used, or made big structural changes to how I use my notebook, I would have started fresh.

Plan Another Day is Here to Stay

I’ve made a few changes over time (new platform, new branding, new focus) but at the core has always been me. My interests have fueled my online presence, and as those interests changed, so did my direction, eventually forming into Plan Another Day. Because of my success in the bullet journaling community, bullet journaling took over as the core subject of this site. Whenever I stray from what feels authentic to me, I feel like I’m lying (hello autistic trait), and it makes it harder for me to produce content.

Getting an Autism Diagnosis in Adulthood

While that interaction can make it feel like autism is a problem that needs to be fixed, it is important to understand there isn’t anything inherently disordering about autism. Things as simple as my preferences in pencil grips in elementary school, or the in-depth analysis I did in college, trying to find the right pen, are directly linked to my desire to accommodate being autistic. But to summarize, I’m excited to write again, and share all the ways I’ve learned to adapt and struggled to make things work. There’s a whole community of people with similar experiences, and through our combined voices, hopefully, we’ll be able to bring about better understanding.

Bullet Journal Recap - An Honest Look at 2019

I’ll keep the page before my calendar and the page after free to prevent ghosting on my most valuable pages. I took some time to flip through every page I filled in 2019 and pick my favorite monthly, weekly, and miscellaneous spreads. Two list pages tied for my favorite miscellaneous spread of 2019. Instead of leaving a blank space at the start of a new month, I plan to make a landing page.
