Being diagnosed with breast cancer at 27 is something I never thought could happen to me. I'm looking to inspire young women who are also on this journey.
As some of you may know, I’m in the process of getting my radiation tattoos removed. It’s also a state law in Massachusetts that laser treatment for the removal of radiation tattoos is covered by insurance. Before my first treatment After my first treatment Two treatments (after, before) My cosmetic dermatologist is very happy with my results and the small tattoos are almost gone!
Breast cancer has made me experience so many opportunities that I never thought was possible. The crowd was amazing and I felt like a model. Being someone who doesn’t like attention, I never thought I would do something like this. However, breast cancer has pushed me out of my comfort zone and I’ve realized that things I may not like, I actually love, like walking in a fashion show and photo shoots!
I heard from so many people saying it should be a private experience and people shouldn’t know what I’m going through. I wanted to share my story so people would understand what I was going through and so people would have more compassion. Even though everything about cancer sucked, meeting these amazing women through social media is one thing I’m so grateful for. Not just to hear the amazing speakers and new research, but to laugh and connect with so many people I’ve met through social media.
I started sharing my breast cancer journey about two years ago I started to share my journey of getting my head shaved and how I felt during chemo. I want to be that young woman who can help you in this journey of breast cancer and life. We can share day-to-day struggles like life after treatment or going through menopause (hot flashes anyone? ! ).
