The Texas Tech football team held its annual spring football game on April 1 at The Star in Frisco, and the Reagor Dykes Auto Group was on hand for the festivities. The company is continuing to grow its marketing presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, so it was a natural that the RDAG was one of the sponsors of this year’s event. The Red Raiders were the only college football team in the country to partner with the Dallas Cowboys and host an event at the Star, which is the team’s state-of-the art complex that serves as the franchise’s headquarters and practice facility. Tech also held a spring practice in Midland and a spring football event in Lubbock.
Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee shared her message of hope and the impact mentors can have on people during the 21st Annual Outback Dinner that raises funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Lubbock. The Outback Boys & Girls Club Dinner helps fund the programs offered at each Lubbock branch, including the Optimist Branch, the Theodore Phea Branch, John W. Wilson Branch and the Shallowater Branch. During the school year, the Optimist branch averages about 100 kids between the ages of 6 to 18. In addition to Joyner-Kersee’s encouraging speech, the event featured a live auction and recognition of the youth of the year at each Boys & Girls Club.
Reagor recognized for unwavering advocacy, commitment to Lubbock Bart Reagor, founder and CEO of the Reagor Dykes Auto Group, was presented with the annual Tourism Trumpeter Award in recognition of his advocacy for Lubbock as a tourist destination. Reagor said he believes the Lubbock Hotel Motel Association recognizes that he and Reagor Dykes Auto Group are working to make Lubbock a better place which is more appealing for both visitors and potential students and residents. Rob Meyer, president of the association, said the award is given to someone who has passion for his or her own work and whose work includes promoting Lubbock as a great place to live and work. The Reagor Dykes Auto Group has begun marketing Lubbock through billboards and through television advertisements that he said he hopes change the way visitors look at Lubbock, as well as how its own people look at the city.
From the first time he ever stepped on a tennis court, Ethan Martinez knew he was right at home. ” Martinez now has four years of competitive tennis under his belt, and he will be a junior at Lubbock-Cooper, where the tennis program When I got here just a few years ago, we only had a varsity team with 16 players,” said Cooper tennis coach Michael Breler, a native of Sweden and former Texas Tech player. Martinez said he wants to improve his backhand and also fine-tune his on-court strategy.
