🦒 Let's explore an abandoned zoo 🦒 🧭 Travel Tuesday 🧭 The Old Catskill Game Farm Once the largest privately owned zoo in the country, this family attraction shut its doors in 2006. Today, the giraffe barn has been renovated into the @longneckinn (we found it on @airbnb ). There are also camp sites and glancing available on @tentrr . The zoo is still home to chickens and goats that are cared for by the grounds keeper, a very nice man that was full of local history knowledge. With 3.5 miles of paved trails and over 20 miles of hiking trails, there was so much to explore. Many of the old buildings abd cages are still there, including many "Kodiak Film Sold Here" signs. My husband had visited when it was still operating as a zoo and had little flashbacks while walking around. It was definitely one of the most unique places I've ever stayed and explored. They are renovating more areas and I can't wait to see what they do. The boys have been asking to go back ever since we got home! 🍁 Parenthood without Boundaries 🍁 Baby wearing and child carriers have allowed us to accomplish so much as a family. I wasn't ready for it to stop. The hiking ability of a 3 year old simply doesn't match that of a 5 year old (or the wanderlust of their mother), but we were restricted by the weight limit of our hiking carrier.
