We have some great ideas about how you and your family can learn about the planet Earth, work to clean it up and keep it that way – all while having fun as a family. Use cans (be sure that sharp edges are removed) bottles, cardboard, paper rolls – anything at all to create a sculpture, robot, or create a panoramic scene in a box. Using construction paper and some fun shaped items, head outside to an area that will remain sunny for several hours. Or a step by step guide to recycling, the recycling guidelines for your home – anything that gets little brains thinking about the earth.
In April, we’ll celebrate Earth Day, which is a perfect time to evaluate how we’re working every day to save our planet! Here are 3 steps to establishing a recycling plan in your home: Search the internet or your local library for the requirements on what can be recycled, when pick up is, or where items can be dropped off. Once you have your recycle program guide lines, find a place in your home to collect items. Make it fun with easy to carry bags and fun “grabbers” like toy claws, sticks or even just a good pair of gloves.
Sometimes, our kids have a hard time letting go of their stuff, even the things they don’t use or play with any more. There are lots of options; items can be donated to a charity, sold in a yard sale and then the proceeds used for a family item or event, or donate the yard sale proceeds to a good cause. Have your kids help by creating labels for each bin of toys, games or other items. If your kids are getting antsy and having a hard time with the purging process, create a game.
Top of the mornin’ to ya! It’s time to celebrate all things green, Irish and fun – St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17th and we have some delicious treats for you and your little ones to celebrate – and maybe even get them to fall in love with some new healthy foods! Gather up all the colorful fruit you can find to create an edible rainbow! For each color, choose a corresponding fruit: Arrange the fruit in concentric arches to create a rainbow
