The latest club release from @westwardwhiskey is their new Bottled-in-Bond. It follows the same rules that you typically see in Bourbon, made by one distiller in one season, aged at least 4 years(they did 7) in a bonded facility and bottled at 100 proof. - I just cracked this and it is still distinctly Westward. Toasted nuts, tea leaves, birdseed(like I get in almost every Westward) and very fruity, more orchard fruits. The palate is a bit more rich but translates nicely from the nose. There is also a very obvious ginger note and it finishes with some oak spice and herbs. - There is a lot going on in this whisky and I think being bottled at 50% really lets it shine. Another excellent release from Westward. 🥃 - #westwardwhiskey #bottledinbond #oregonwhiskey #americansinglemalt

Introducing the Journeys Samurai from @dekantawhisky 🥃 - This premium tasting set showcases some of the best whiskies from distilleries in Japan including Sakurao, Akashi, Kanosuke, Hakushu, Shizuoka, and Yoichi. - This set is perfect for the person who is interested in exploring some of the finest Japanese whiskies…like me! - It also features some amazing artwork of an android Samurai surrounded by darkness and Spider Lilies by artist Kikue Ichihashi. - I’ll be tasting through each of these soon and I’ll be sure to share. - #dekantawhisky #japanesewhisky #sakurao #akashi #kanosuke #hakushu #shizuoka #yoichi

Trying the new @greenriverdistillingco Full Proof Bourbon 🥃 - Maybe you haven’t heard of Green River Distillery before but they are in fact the 10th oldest distillery in Kentucky and we’re recently purchased by Bardstown Bourbon Company back in 2022. - The new Full Proof Bourbon comes in at 58.65% and contains 5-7 year old bourbons with a mashbill of 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley. Even with the high rye percentage, this is quite a soft bourbon with some baking spice, vanilla, caramel and mint. There is some light fruit, cherry and peanut brittle in there as well. It’s a pleasant bourbon however the finish is surprisingly abrupt but at $50 you can’t really go wrong. - This is my first try of Green River and I’d definitely try some other expressions, especially since I’m such a fan of Bardstown. - #greenriverdistilling #greenriverbourbon #bourbon #whiskey #kentuckywhiskey

Thanks to @teelingwhiskey I was able to try the new Wonders of Wood Third Edition: Virgin Swedish Oak. - The Wonders of Wood series are special releases from Teeling using unique woods to mature the whiskey. They also partner with the Tree Council of Ireland to plant an acre of native Irish trees for each release. - Nose: sweet wood, floral, caramel, citrus, sugar cookie - Palate: malty, candied ginger, herbal, molasses - Finish: nutmeg, slightly dry, cracked pepper, toasted graham cracker - While still obviously Irish, the virgin Swedish Oak does seem to impart and rich and dense characteristic to the whiskey and I think the 50% abv helps a lot here as well. - #teelingwhiskey #teelingwondersofwood #swedishoak #irishwhiskey #teelingirishwhiskey

So I did a thing and finally visited @westwardwhiskey for the first time. I feel very lucky and grateful that they set up a couple amazing days for my visit! - Day 1 included a distillery tour and tasting where I met @honathanjarris who showed me around and had lined up some epic pours to go through including some of the first ever single barrels from Westward, some older special releases and much more. His passion for Westward and whiskey in general is limitless. He’s a true whiskey nerd and it was great to spend a few hours with him talking whiskey. - Day 2 kept the good times rolling with a visit to the Westward warehouse with none other than the legend himself, @miles_munroe . We started off dipping into barrels that were 1, 2, 3, and 4 years old to understand how Westward changes over time. Then we went through some specialty barrels Miles had prepared including some brewery collabs and interesting wine finishes. Lastly, I got to wander around and basically choose whatever I wanted to try. I happened upon a barrel that had just turned 10 years old a week prior so we decided to crack that open and give it a taste. The Westward whiskey we know and love is typically 4-6 years old, but at 10 years it is something entirely different. It’s surprisingly fresh and floral and not what either of us were expecting. That said, I’m sorry to say we won’t be seeing any official 10 year old release any time soon or ever. - All in all it was an amazing experience and I have to say a huge thank you to Westward and the team that made this unforgettable visit happen. Cheers! 🥃 - #westwardwhiskey #americansinglemalt #whiskey

Made a visit to @copperworksdistilling yesterday. I honestly didn’t know much about the brand or had ever tried it so it was interesting to hear what they’ve been doing and their plans for the future. They incorporate quite a few traditional methods of distilling that we’ve seen in Scotland, including custom made stills from Scotland! - Impressive stuff happening here so I’ll keep them on my radar. I ended up bottling my own bottle straight from the barrel by the end of it. Cheers! 🥃 - #copperworksdistillery #americansinglemalt #whiskey

Tasting the new Collaborative Series from @bardstownbourbonco 🥃. This is the (take a deep breath) Bardstown Bourbon Collaborative Series Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Amrut Indian Malt Whisky Barrels Blended with Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bottled at 55%. - Nose: vanilla, spice, cherry coke, toasted oak, caramel - Palate: sweet and spicy, caramel, tannins, candied ginger, black cherry, sweet red fruits - Finish: long, the rye is more present here, pepper, cumin - Another delicious release from Bardstown. These Collborative Series whiskies are always executed really well and very unique. Cheers! - #bardstownbourboncompany #amrutwhisky #ryewhiskey #bourbon #bardstowncolloboration

Just tasted the new @bunnahabhain Feis Ile 2024: 19 year old Moine Madeira cask finish bottled at 51.2%. - Nose: peat and brine upfront, caramelized nuts, orange peel, clove - Palate: oily, ashy, nutty, cooked peaches, vegetal, wood spice - Finish: brine comes back on the finish, nutmeg, grassy - Not a complex whisky but a delicious one. Not as fruity as you might expect. It’s definitely more of a rough, peated style whisky than a sweet and peat style. - #bunnahabhain #bunnahabhainwhisky #islaywhisky #feisile #scotchwhisky
