We designed the kitchen, dining area, and living room for clients who love to entertain. We opened up the space plan and integrated the kitchen and living room to make it easier and more functional to entertain friends and family. We kept the dining area simple and clutter-free but still made a statement with an asymmetrical, rich wood dining table. We complemented the black metal of the fireplace with interesting decor elements such as framed artwork, a metal framed table, and indoor plants.

We then have a pre-proposal consultation with the client at their home or office, where we discuss the scope of work, their needs and expectations, project requirements, timeline, and their planned investment. We enjoy taking up projects from an early design stage, where we work with the architects, execute the project, and decorate the finished home. Being upfront is the way to go, so clients understand the end-to-end design process, and know exactly where they are and what to expect each step of the way. With every project I take up, I ensure that not only are client expectations managed but also exceeded.

From Concept to Completion: A Tour of a New Home Construction It is never too early to bring an interior designer onto a project- especially when your project is a new home construction. A dark wood dining table paired with highback upholstered chairs is set on a gray-brown patterned rug. We used a combination of soft and deep browns in the brown-themed living room that features a stone clad fireplace and a home entertainment system complete with an overhead projector. An open plan connects the living room to the bar which has dark wood cabinetry, modern pendant lights, and metal toned high chaired seating.

As interior designers are frequent purchasers of furniture and home decor, manufacturers and many retailers give us great deals on a large range of decor including furniture, fabric, lighting, and wall coverings. The service agreement will state whether the designer will be reimbursed for their time through fees or if they will markup the price of the products sold to clients by an amount they decide compensates for their time and expenses. While some designers aim to make the covers of design magazines, we design for the inhabitants of the home.
