The time with extended family…football on TV…and of course, the chance to throw caution and Weight Watcher’s points to the wind, and gobble up whatever treat is laid before me (I’m like Pacman without the quarters). Plus, I bring other things to the table – like the ice cubes I usually contribute to every Thanksgiving meal. So this year, I decided to heed is advice by making a startling announcement to my sister, the host of our family gathering. That’s what I thought, until I went to the grocery store and came upon a big display of blueberry pies standing in front of me.

I watched decades ago when Homer presented Marge with a surprising birthday gift – a bowling ball. Marge, who didn’t bowl, was furious, suspecting that Homer had purchased the ball for himself. That’s when I also realized that though we might not be the most romantic couple, we are far better off than Homer and Marge Simpson.

We’ve spoken at conferences, universities, in the middle of the ocean (on cruise ships), fundraisers, once even in a break room over a Stop & Shop supermarket (You can really catch shoplifters from up there). This past weekend, we got to cross that off our speaking bucket list when we headed to Rockford, Illinois to speak at a mother’s weekend retreat for Easter Seals. guessing there’s no hotel bar or Manager’s Reception! After Gina shared a very personal ordeal involving:  1) her distraction issues; and 2) walking a leash without a dog on it, one of the attendees had the courage to share her own harrowing story; one that had her driving away from home with her cat on the roof of her car.

As those who have been following this blog know, Patty and Gina love to get out out of the house and spend quality time with nature and beer cart driving men and women.
