Grab a big fruit bowl for your fresh produce (keep a close eye for bugs! ) or order a big water pitcher to fill with lemons or cucumber for fancy, fresh water in your fridge.

Don’t shy from making plans with friends or family, but plan wisely. * Host or go out to brunch * Meet friends for an exercise class or walk * Catch the early-bird special at your favorite restaurant By taking time on Sunday, you eliminate some weekday stress and can get things done more effectively and start the week feeling accomplished, instead of feeling like you laid on the couch for 3 days straight.

We projected the budget with the lower end of your income range and we have no doubt that you can afford $750 rent without having to dip into your savings. You should also be able to continue adding little to your savings and pay for typical discretionary expenses (clothing, vacations, an occasional night out with friends, etc.). Having that very nice savings cushion gives you flexibility even to cut back work hours during exams and still make your rent. We don’t like using savings for ongoing rent, but in your case the top priority should be doing as well as possible in your studies.

Many larger apartment complexes offer common areas, like a clubhouse or room in the leasing office, where tenants can host get-togethers or meetings. Ask your leasing office about specific amenities, like the pool, so you understand its availability to you during the year. Some apartments, especially in larger buildings, will have specific rules on when music and loud parties must end to be considerate of your neighbors. These rules can also help build good will between tenants in larger communities, since you’re less likely to annoy each other with loud noise.
