and from there I got really overconfident and thought “let’s attempt a gingerbread carousel so I’m still not sure how I’m going to decorate it After a lot of debating and pondering I finally decide to do rainbow dip dye for the unicorns. Pieces keep falling off and it’s completely crooked and lopsided but I’ve been at this for so long that I’m just over it now lol

Basically a fat unicorn slouched next to a cake with a big chunk missing from it. However the longer it sat the more the unicorn started to sort of just melt into itself since it hadn’t set properly. At first it just added to the fat unicorn aesthetic but after awhile it just started to look disturbing lol I’ve even started making meringue “cakes” and just putting them out as decoration

Last year I discovered a recipe for agar rock candy which could be used to make geode cakes Something to note about these….the agar rock candy takes 3-4 days to make so this cake took a lot of planning to ensure that it would be done in time for my friends birthday (January 16). I started the process for making the agar rock candy January 5. So here’s a few of the agar rock candy I made.

It’s basically chocolate cake that has been fashioned to look like an island which is then surrounded by a gelatin ocean. Here’s a little collage of cakes I’ve been making for those that aren’t on twitter or instagram. So in place of: * white chocolate: I opted to use buttercream which I was able to manipulate for the shading on the island as well as mimic waves in the water. I next mixed melted chocolate and coconut oil which I used to paint the island to make it look more rocky and also used it as a glue to add the spirulina foliage as well as some graham cracker sand on the bottom of the ocean floor.
