Swedish Cardamom Cake

This was the perfect Food 'n Flix choice for November, a time when we're reminded to give thanks for all of the blessings we have in our lives (chosen by this month's host, Wendy at A Day in the Life on the Farm ).There was quite a bit of food to be found throughout the film, mostly just every day stuff... mentions or scenes including meat and potatoes, stuffed cabbage leaves, soup, tuna, pizza, kebab toast, coffee, bread, cheese, orange juice, food while traveling, cake at a birthday. Loosely translated, it means "a coffee and cake break", but apparently , it's more about the act of communing with friends and colleagues...over coffee or tea and cake or other small bites. It's the perfect little bite to eat alongside your coffee or tea, was perfectly suited to (a green rooibos with blueberries, raspberry leaves, rose hips, hibiscus, cranberries, blue cornflowers, and blueberry essence).

The Princess and the Frog

Be sure to visit my (I'm hosting this, too) announcement post HERE to check out all of the awesome recipes inspired by the Brother's Grimm! In the spirit of the season, and the month of October, a time when the veil between worlds is thin and the final harvest is upon us, I wanted to choose a movie with somewhat spooky roots as ourpick this month. The two find themselves in a tree stump in the bayou (their hiding spot after being chased from the party), and go on a mission to make their way back "home"...making friends with Louis, a jazz loving, trumpet playing alligator and Ray, a Cajun firefly, along the way. There's quite a bit of food throughout (Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Frog Legs with Sauce Piquante, Po' Boys, Muffaleta, cornbread, swamp gumbo, Hush Puppies, Beignets), and what I chose is a simple NOLA classic, Bananas Foster.

Debra from Eliot's Eats ran with the October theme and Voodoo inspiration from the movie when creating her Debra fromran with the October theme and Voodoo inspiration from the movie when creating her Although Camilla of Culinary Adventures with Camilla admits that her Although Camilla ofadmits that her may not be totally traditionally, I think it looks packed full of flavor and inspiration! Amy from Amy's Cooking Adventures whipped up a batch of fudgy Amy fromwhipped up a batch of fudgy ...with Naveen and Tiana in frog form perched on top and sprinkled with "Evangline" stars (plus she made a Halloween pumpkin that looks like Ray - so cute)! Since it's October, I thought choose something with a little bit of dark magic and a whole lot of good food, in hopes that it would inspire some creative fun in the kitchen!

#GrimmGrub Recipes Link-Up

I'm excited to announce that I'm hosting the current round of Fandom Foodies right here on All Roads Lead to the Kitchen this month! I invite you to create and share recipes inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm—AND their derivatives! Whether referred to as fairy tales, folk tales, or household tales, these stories written by German brothers Jacob and Wilhelm have endured since their initial release in 1812. From short stories to books to televisions shows to movies, animated or live-action, there is no shortage of inspiration to take into the kitchen this month!
