We are all capable of complex emotions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can be BOTH be disappointed by a long-awaited trip AND still be absolutely devastated by the heartbreaking deaths caused by this crisis.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ What's important is that at the end of the day, you realize what's MOST important and look at things from a clear perspective. Disappointment will go away but those lives lost can never be brought back.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙏🏻 Bottom line is: now is not the time for being judgmental and arguing about petty things. ❤ We've said it often, every country holds a special place in our heart. ➡️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇮🇹 Italy is special to us in its own way since it was the first European country we explored together as a couple--even before we had an Instagram account. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💑 Here's a little peek at our Italy story: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👫 We were still in an LDR at the time--Rob in 🇺🇸, Joli in 🇵🇭. So we had to carefully plan this trip--we had to coordinate our work skeds, apply for a Schengen visa for Joli, plot our itinerary, and save diligently--all to make this adventure happen. We each only had a week off from work so we had to be efficient. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥂 Italy is a country that's long been overly romanticized in movies and TV shows. We went to the country with realistic expectations, so we wouldn't be disappointed. Luckily, Italy blew us away. · We started in Rome, took a side trip to Naples then spent the night in Sorrento. · We took a boat to the island of Capri, made a stopover in Pompeii, then took a train straight to Milan. · From there, we went to Venice, then circled back south to Florence, the Tuscan region, Assisi, Pisa before going back to Rome. We stayed at an Airbnb with an amazing view of the Colosseum. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚓ We have very fond memories of our trip, especially our planes, trains, and automobiles adventure of packing all the country's highlights into one short but memorable week. The reason we reminisce today is because we know that they are reportedly one of the worst-hit country by this cruel disease, in terms of lives lost. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💖 The people out there are in our thoughts, especially the ones we had the pleasure of interacting with and made our vacation special, from our charismatic taxi driver in Rome to our funny waiters in Sorrento to our wonderful tour guide in the country, Alessandro who was an absolute hoot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❤ Stay strong Italy! ❌ We are in the midst of a worldwide crisis and now is NOT the time to travel.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌏 However, this doesn't our mean that our love of travel should go away completely.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🗳️ We asked many of YOU, our followers, on IG Stories: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Should we keep posting inspiring travel photos and stories despite the worldwide lockdown?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☑️ You gave us your thoughts, and we listened. An overwhelming majority of you answered that YES, we should. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, we carry on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We will continue to post photos every now and then; as well as share stories of some wonderful adventures we'd recommend. Hopefully, we can continue to inspire you to visit these places, once the world is ready to welcome guests again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just as we are together in this crisis, we can together keep our passion to explore as soon as this all passes. We look forward to that day. Just like most of you, we are dealing with a bit of anxiety, given the uncertainty of the current situation. ✔ We had the good fortune of visiting arguably, the most famous museum in the world, the Louvre. #latepost⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🎨 This museum in Paris is so obviously world-renowned, thanks to the classic artwork in its halls such as Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and of course, the enigmatic Mona Lisa.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚠️ Major tip: Visit the Museum on Wed or Fri - when they have extended hours until 9pm.
