The hardest decision I have to make on every day hike… Trying to figure out what layers to pack for the hike. It can be difficult. It may be cool in the mornings but warm in the afternoons. Finding a jacket that is warm but still lightweight enough that you can pack it away when you get hot is the key! A D | I tried out this Stio Dawner Hooded Jacket on my hike in Oregon. It’s so light that it packs into the left pocket of the jacket while still having warm but breathable insulation. The @stio Summer End of Season Sale is ongoing now with gear up to 40% off! Ways to get Yellowstone to yourself… Yellowstone is one of the most visited national parks in the United States, making it difficult to find space for yourself. I know some of us may not be as into backpacking as day hiking, and I’m one of them, but it’s really the best way to find spots to yourself and also hot springs at a decent enough temperature to take a dip. This spring is located on the Snake River Trail, but is NOT safe to get in. It’s way too hot! Try “Mr. Bubbles” along the Bechler River. It’s one of the most popular backpacking routes in Yellowstone National Park. If you’ve never done a backpacking trip, I’ve taken guided backpacking tours with @wildlandtrekking multiple times and have had great experiences. They have a ton of great options all over the US as well. 🙋🏻♀️ Follow more 30s, mid-range budget, outdoor adventures! #hiking #hikingadventure #outdooradventures #outdoorgirl #hikewithme #hikewyoming #hikeyellowstone #yellowstonenationalpark #yellowstonenps #yellowstonenp
Can’t believe I almost missed the clearest lake I’ve ever seen… The first time I ever posted about Crater Lake was the first time I ever went viral. However, it wasn’t this Crater Lake, it was a Crater Lake in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness in Colorado. Everyone in the comments was telling me it wasn’t the real Crater Lake and that I needed to visit Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. I almost didn’t make it all the way down here because it’s about 5 hours from Portland and I only had a few days. I knew after all those comments I couldn’t miss it though. The water at the lake is incredibly clear , but there’s only one trail down to the lake, the Cleetwood Cove Trail. Although a busier trail, don’t miss this trail and don’t forget a swimsuit to take a chilly dip! You can also take a 2 hour boat ride around the lake from the bottom of this trail, but make sure to make reservations in advance. 🙋🏻♀️ Follow more 30s, mid-range budget, outdoor adventures! 🔹Trail: Cleetwood Cove 🔹Distance: 2.1 miles out and back 🔹Elevation Gain: 610ft 🔹Difficulty: Moderate due to the steep switchbacks #hiking #hikingadventure #outdooradventures #outdoorgirl #hikewithme #hikepnw #hikeoregon #craterlakenationalpark #craterlake #craterlakeoregon
Best times to visit the Albanian Riviera: 🔹May: The water is a bit icy in May, but it was actually refreshing and I got used to it pretty quick because it was already starting to get hot out. What I loved about May was that there were a lot less tourists at this time. 🔹July and August: These months get very hot and I would avoid these months. It was already hot in May, there will be more tourists in July and August, and the prices for hotels will be higher. 🔹September: From what I heard from the locals, September is the BEST TIME TO GO. So you still have time to book a trip for this year! The reason for this is that it cools down again, but the water remains warmer. ➡️ Send to someone you want to go to Albania with this September! #outdoortravel #vacationdestination #travelguidealbania #visitalbania #albaniatourism #albaniathingstodo #daytripalbania #blueeyealbania
COMPLETE 4 Day Itinerary - Albania Riviera: Day 1️⃣: 🛬 Fly into Tirana 🚙 Rent a car and drive 3 hours to Dhërmi (the drive through the national park is very windy and steep but not a bad drive otherwise) 🏨 Check in to La Brisa Boutique Hotel 🍹 Spend the afternoon sipping aperol spritz on your day bed, looking out at the crystal clear Dhërmi Beach (my favorite beach and place in Albania 😍) 🍽️ Eat dinner at Salinas 🔥 Check out the Salinas beach bar complete with fire pits and a DJ Day 2️⃣: 🚙 Drive 20 minutes to Gjipe Beach (bring cash for parking) 🥾 Hike about about 30 minutes down to the beach (bring good shoes, it’s rocky) 🏖️ Spend the rest of the morning/afternoon at the beach 👙 Back to the day beds at La Brisa if you have time 🍽️ Eat dinner at Salinas (sorry this is all I will recommend in Dhërmi) Day 3️⃣: 🚙 Drive 2 hours through the mountains to the Blue Eye (very safe roads with guardrails in Albania) 🏖️ Spend the afternoon at 3 Islands Beach in Ksamil 🍽️ Have dinner at The Mussel House in Ksamil with a view of the lake (best mussels I’ve ever had!) 🚙 Drive back to Dhërmi Day 4️⃣: 🏖️ Spend the last morning at your beach in Dhërmi 👙 Drive 10 minutes to visit Drymades Beach (just as beautiful water as Dhërmi but less developed) 🚙 Drive 3 hours back to Tirana 🍽️ Have dinner at SALT in Tirana 📌 Save for planning later! #outdoortravel #vacationdestination #travelguidealbania #visitalbania #albaniatourism #albaniathingstodo #daytripalbania #blueeyealbania #europetravel #europesummer #europedestinations #europevacation
The one place you can’t miss if you are in the Sarandë area of Albania is the Blue Eye. ✨What to know before you go: 1️⃣ The Blue Eye is so clear it can seen from a depth of more than 50 meters. Divers have descended to the 50 meters, but it is still unclear what the actual depth of the hole is. 2️⃣ When you google Blue Eye Albania, you’ll probably end up with a lot of blogs that are indicating you need to hike or take a 4x4 vehicle to the Blue Eye. This is no longer true. In the past few years a new road was built. You can drive the 30 minutes from Sarandë right up to the parking lot. Then, walk about 15 minutes down a paved road to the Blue Eye. If you don’t feel like walking you can rent a scooter or take a mini train for a small fee. 3️⃣ You can’t jump in the actual Blue Eye, but you can get in at shallower areas of the river so still bring your swimsuit! 📌 Follow for more outdoor adventures in unique places! #outdoortravel #vacationdestination #travelguidealbania #visitalbania #albaniatourism #albaniathingstodo #daytripalbania #blueeyealbania
Tips for visiting this beach in the south of Albania, Gjipe Beach. The road to the parking area is well paved, but it is only one lane so there will be times where you need to figure out who is going to back up to the last pull over spot. The parking was 400 leke. If you only have credit card, you can park at the nextdoor hotel. However, if you need to purchase water down at the beach, you will need cash. It takes about 30 minutes to hike up and down to the beach. I made it in flip flops, but I recommend bringing sneakers. The trail is very rocky. Bring sunscreen as well, the sun in Albania is strong! ➡️ Follow for more outdoor adventures away from the crowds! #gjipebeach #albania #visitalbania #ioniansea #albanianriviera #albaniatravel #albaniatourism #albanianature #beautifulalbania
Rare occurrence in Sedona, how to find it… I had this cave to myself for the entire hour I was there. I think it is less popular because there’s no sign to the cave on the actual trail, only on AllTrails. It is easy to get lost on this trail. It’s not well-marked and there are a lot of paths shooting off from the trail that will confuse you. I’d highly recommend, as always, downloading the map before you go. The last 0.2 miles up to the cave are the steepest. I’d recommend bringing trekking poles and sturdy shoes for this part. I did slip a few times on the way down, almost onto a cactus! Easy to moderate red rock trails in the USA… I’ve never really thought I was a desert person, but then I started looking through pictures I wanted to post today and realized they were almost all in the desert! I think it’s something about those sunrises and sunsets on the red rocks 😍 Are you a desert or forest person❓ 1️⃣ Delicate Arch in Arches National Park in Utah at sunrise - 3.2 miles 2️⃣ Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado (view front the facilities off the main parking lot) at sunrise - Less than 0.1 miles 3️⃣ Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona at sunset - 1.5 miles 4️⃣ Court of the Patriarchs from the Wrangler Trail (not the viewpoint trail) in Zion National Park in Utah - Less than 0.1 miles 📌 Follow for more outdoor tips and adventures #hiking #hikingtrails #zionnationalpark #archesnationalpark #hikeutah #horseshoebend #hikearizona #gardenofthegods #hikecolorado #outdooradventures #hikingtips
✨How to prevent altitude sickness… 1️⃣ Spend a day or two at higher altitude before doing any hiking. I live in Houston at sea level so when I go hiking to above 10K feet, I’ll spend time in a city at about 5K feet for a day or two. 2️⃣ Hydrate days before your hike and during. If you do anything, do this. Being hydrated helps dramatically. 3️⃣ Don’t drink alcohol the night before your hike. Not gonna lie, I do not follow this rule 😁 4️⃣ Ascend slowly. I’m terrible at walking slow so this one gets me every time. Descend slowly as well. I got altitude sickness hiking Rainbow Mountain in Peru, but not until I descended. 📌 Follow for more outdoor tips and destinations 😁 #hiking #hikingtips #hikingsafety #hikingtrails #beginnerhikers #hikecolorado #hikingadventures #hikingculture #hikemore #hikingvibes #hikingtrip
You’d never believe where this is… 🌋 Volcán Barú is an active stratovolcano and the tallest mountain in Panama at 11,398 ft high. It is also the 12th highest peak in Central America. 🚙 Only registered guides are allowed to drive up to the top for safety reasons. Your options are to either hike the 10-17 miles OR take a guided, bumpy, 2-hour 4x4 ride up to the top. 🧥It does get chilly hiking for sunrise so bring warm layers. AD: I wore these from @stio which was plenty. Use code ASHLEYSTIO for 20% off! 1️⃣ Basis Midweight Merino Crew 2️⃣ Sweetwater Fleece Full Zip Hoodie 🚽 There is also a bathroom at the top, but there’s a catch‼️ The bathroom is actually located within the police’s sleeping quarters.
