As I’ve grown, both as an adult and now as a parent, I’ve come to realize that all parents come with a past. You never think about that growing up because your parents are just that, your parents. You know them your whole life, not theirs As I think about what I want to share with my kids, I wonder if they’ll even be interested or if they’ll just brush me off and realize years later, the way I did about my own parents, that I was a person long before they ever arrived.

I’m a tad late on this seeing as how Logan was born in June, but a good dinosaur themed party never goes out of style, so I figure there’s always time to share! For our tables we got brightly colored table cloths and then made tiny party hats for Logan’s dinosaurs. After throwing Kaeli’s Story Bots birthday party a few months earlier, I had some ideas about how to improve this party to keep the kids involved and in the backyard. Our stations were broken down into a big dino fossil dig in a kiddie pool on the ground, a smaller standing sand table for tiny dinosaurs that the kids could fill up their party favor buckets with and take home, and a water station to beat the Texas summertime heat.

Which is why I think you’ll agree that Hang Indoor Playground is a gem for San Antonio parents! Once we were tired of following her up the giant playscape, she settled into the toddler area and had a great time on the smaller slide and the padded stepping blocks. Hang has a nice snack bar and I was pleased to see it included allergy friendly options as well as organic options, too. Hang offers a parents night out, has a mother’s group meet-up, and also has inclusive hours for children who might not otherwise feel comfortable participating.

Through serious trial & error, I have learned to make a pretty decent pizza crust for our son, but it’s time consuming and sometimes, we just want to go out to eat as a family. I’d love to say that I’m the kind of parent who never uses tablets for my kids in restaurants, but I’m keeping it real with y’all that sometimes the tablet is essential to a peaceful meal where my husband and I actually get the opportunity to interact. For the kids we ordered a gluten free crust with red sauce, asked for it to be cheeseless to accommodate our son also being dairy-free, and then added pepperoni & bacon to it. I’m sure it goes without saying that we had a wonderful time at Grimaldi’s and will absolutely be headed back the next time we get a hankering for pizza.
