To date, we have collected 1,217 pairs of shoes, and hosted collection events at 15 different locations. As we enter 2021, our goal is to continue expanding our impact and reach to under-served athletes by increasing our distribution sites and the number of partnerships we have in place. Earlier this month, the Sharing Shoes team, including Claudia Saunders and Brittany Watson, had the honor to present partnership ideas to Nike. With the help of Nike, next year we will add several new partnerships and distribution sites in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
Supporting the CDC in the Global Pandemic SeKON is on the front lines of the COVID-19 response maintaining the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 website. Karen Ramlall-Abbott – Project Manager, Adriana Welborn – Deputy, Mary Beth Byram, Richard Eisenbart, Arissa Hendricks, Shanika Thomas, Rob Wicker, Aldrick Williams, Carol Kilpatrick, David Rosenberg, George (Buddy) Loughlin as well as our Northrop Grumman staff on the project.
SAMHSA hired a new Contracting Officer Representative (COR) who has been more involved in the planning process and attended all the team Agile Scrum ceremonies which has helped consolidate meetings. This is especially important as we work toward updating from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 during this fiscal year, a task that involves moving to the USWDS theme system and cleaning up many aspects of the site to be leaner and more efficient. We have also recently welcomed Ali Syed, Lisa Mayo, and Michelle Southerland-Frazer to our team as new SeKON Drupal developers. They have all been a boon to productivity and have contributed greatly to our continued success by leading tasks such as the theme migration, creating new features, and guiding the developers.
However, in pondering this question, I think there is one business that we are all part of regardless of our technical and managerial skillsets. For the past 40+ years, I’ve been in the customer service business, and it’s taught me some universal lessons that have withstood the test of time: Be responsive to their requests – meet all deadlines and communicate status frequently for those longer-term requests. Seek to make your customer successful – customers want what we want, simply to be successful in achieving their goals.
