Oh, Canada + 6 Things to Do While You're There

It is 1.5 hours (of beautiful driving) to downtown Banff, and about 10-15 minutes from Icefields Parkway, where most of the hikes and view points we visited are located. Being able to wake up early and hike the trails around the hotel before they were crowded was a major bonus, as was being able to skip the lines for canoeing on Lake Louise, as Fairmont guests go right to the front. What airport to fly into: We flew into Calgary Airport, which is 1.5 hours to downtown Banff and 2hr 15min to Fairmont Lake Louise. When you're in Banff, I feel like you want a combination of inexpensive, quick bites so that you're not wasting your day eating, and more expensive, delicious restaurants, that may or may not be overpriced because of a beautiful view.

Whole30 Take Aways + Favorite Recipes

Yesterday, we had some friends over for the 4th and definitely enjoyed having the freedom to eat whatever we wanted, but I found myself not wanting as much of the bread/chips/dips/pizza and actually wanting to fill up more on the salads and meat. But I soon learned that the full feeling I was used to, was really a bloated feeling from bread and cheese and other similar foods that are not necessarily unhealthy, but create a stuffed feeling when I finish them. I got so used to feeling a good-kind-of-full for 30 days- where my body had actually eaten enough but didn't feel uncomfortable after eating. Going forward, I am super thankful for the flexibility we'll have in being able to eat what we want and not having to cook separate meals in the instances when we are out to eat somewhere with our kids, but I will most definitely continue to choose the higher protein, leaner and cleaner path to feeling full whenever I can.

Whole30 Recipes- Week 3

But let's be real: We're bored with breakfast, and one of us (me) is totally ready for an occasional quick and convenient dinner (read: #keepinitrealrecipe here from The Real Food Dieticians First of all, The Real Food Dieticians is my new favorite food blog for healthy recipes. So good.recipe here from The Real Food Dietitians photo from The Real Food Dieticians So since I found The Real Food Dieticians , and since I was wanting to make stuffed peppers, I searched their site to see if they had a recipe.

Whole30 Recipes- Week 2

I don't know if it was just me, but the cooking in foil method took way longer than the normal time to cook salmon, which doesn't make any sense, so it was probably just me. Anyway, whether you use the foil method or not, this was a super quick (prep-time) and flavorful way to cook your salmon. I will share this full recipe later this week, but it's a spin-off of this recipe called Hamburger Soup found here If you missed week one recipes, you can find them here from The Real Food Dietitians Yum, yum, yum! I don't know if it was just me, but the cooking in foil method took way longer than the normal time to cook salmon, which doesn't make any sense, so it was probably just me.
