Our Rescue Dog – 1 Month Update

When we came down on the first morning, she had curled into the tiniest ball imaginable and hid in the tiny gap between the shelves and the wall, it broke my heart a bit (despite having her own comfy bed less than a metre away). On the 10th day, we took Forest to a secure field for a run and to also work on her recall a bit, as well as getting her used to more new things. (She sleeps at the foot of the bed in her own bed, which she finally uses) though would rather lay sprawled on the floor like she’s been shot. She tried to snap at me to warn me away, then got a bit scared and started guarding the bed

Getting a Rescue Dog from Wags N’ Wet Noses – My Experience

Exactly a month ago today, I was stood in a McDonald’s car park waiting for a van to appear. We also struggled to get a rescue dog from the UK as we have two cats, and most UK shelters won’t give you a dog unless they had previously lived with cats, or are a puppy. We were given an estimated arrival date of 18th or 19th November, depending on where the van had to stop in the UK. I can’t fault the team at Wags N’ Wet Noses, they answered every question we had and have continued to help to this day!

My Cornwall Road Trip – Days 7 to 10

The day started out badly – we did get a parking space but then had to scrounge around the car park asking people for change for a note because the machine only accepts coins (who has £6.50 in coins?). At low tide, you can sometimes walk from Porthcurno round to other beaches that are usually hidden, and I remember once as a child managing to walk to another three beaches which were amazing. They have a huge selection of vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free cakes, and also do a one-pot meal every day that’s gluten and dairy-free. There’s a very wild beach on the coastal path around a 10-minute walk away, which made for a lovely evening walk except for the fact it was ridiculously windy and raining very heavily.

My Cornwall Road Trip: Days 5 & 6

Day 5 of our road trip was forecast drizzle all day, so we decided to take the south west coastal path from Sennen Cove to Lands End, a walk I’ve done loads of time which is really pretty and about 3 miles. I ended up buying some fudge from Roly’s Fudge Pantry who have three vegan flavours: Salted Maple & Pecan Fudge, Maple & Cashew Fudge and Chocolate Orange. I also got some cute postcards and a keyring from Poppy Treffy, a St Eval candle for my mum and this french pear candle from Cornwall Soapbox for myself because it smells incredible. In the afternoon, we decided to head away from the crowds and have a wander on the beaches, including a sit and read on Porthgwidden beach (my favourite!) before it started raining.
