But just when I was about to book my ticket, I thought that since I’d already have flown as far as the Pacific Coast, maybe I could stretch the trip a little and, you know, maybe try to reach… the South Pacific? There I was, drained and exhausted, and thinking of venturing alone to South Pacific islands. so I got to work and planned it as follows: * 5 nights in Los Angeles (with a day venture to Palm Springs) A red eye flight to Fiji, leaving on April 19th and arriving on April 21st, making sure I skipped the dreaded anniversary of my father’s death on April 20th (Ha!
The ride from Sangster-Montego Bay airport to our hotel – located in Runaway Bay on the North coast – took about an hour, and after a breezy check-in we were settling in our room at the gorgeous resort of Grand Bahia Principe. The beach looked gorgeous, and even though the resort is huge (850 rooms! ! ), the layout of it – with 3 pools and many restaurants (7) to choose from each night – meant we’d never feel crowded. The wonderful thing about the resort is that if you want lively, you can get it: head to the pools or the first part of the beach and you’ll find people who want to have fun, do activities and sports, and be near the bar. I wish we’d had more days to spend at Grand Bahia Principe Runaway Bay, at least to try out all the activities they have on offer, or just to eat all the food at all the restaurants.
I’ve had Cartagena on my radar for many many years and I’m finally off to visit this amazing city! Colombia is a big country and I’m only there 8 days, so obviously I won’t be covering a lot of ground. I’m flying into Cartagena and then I’m off to Baru island, on the Caribbean coast, because of course. I’m in desperate need of sunshine and from what I’ve been reading, the weather shouldn’t disappoint: temperatures in February average 28°C, and the Weather Network informs me that February usually sees about 1 mm of rain.
Tunisia was a real stunner, and I was beyond happy to have chosen this destination for my first ever solo trip (yaaaas! ). I was in desperate need of a real vacation after an emotionally difficult year, but I also wanted to explore as much as possible. Tunisia seemed like the perfect destination: a country rich in culture and sights, but also close to the sea, with a laid-back resort town where I could chill and relax. I spent my time between lounging by the Mediterranean Sea in Hammamet, on the Cap Bon Peninsula, to camel-trekking in the Sahara desert.
