I love the story of how I came to document this amazing couple. Ashley was the first to propose
There is always pressure to preform as a wedding photographer, but it seems to be higher with a New Year’s Eve wedding. Taylor and Austen’s wedding at the Grand Hall in Kansas City was packed full of things to keep me on my toes. Kindra Browne of Simple Elegance is a wedding planning pro and not only pulled this event off without a hitch, but provided the perfect stage for a New Year’s celebration worthy of such high expectations. Taylor has a very special bond with her dog, Benji, who was at the wedding and provided the perfect level of deeper story telling I look for at a wedding.
Can you imagine being a grown up and having every year of your childhood illustrated in a book of professional photos? This is the 4th session I have done for this family and I love how different each one is. The last two years I have documented this family in the same house, same location, but if we just let life happen none of the photos are the same. We danced, we played video games, worked on the holiday lights outside, played with Halloween decorations in the garage, and took Christmas cookies over to the neighbor.
Being trusted by a teacher of my two sons to document her daughter’s wedding. The ceremony taking place in the church Courtney’s dad helped design. Courtney simply buries her face into his chest and he embraces her with this sort of bear-like hug and it is awesome. That hug resulted in of my favorite images at the end of the night while they waited for the elevator to their room after their reception ended at The Embassy Suites in Kansas City.
