Every Friday of October they play a Halloween Movie at Northerly Island, complete with campfires, Mars Wrigley treats, marshmallow roasting and free popcorn and hot beverages. The same tiki bar that offers the pumpkin patch has a “haunted” boat tour down the Chicago River on Halloween!
Thanks to a few recommendations by friends, I’m really into True Crime Podcasts lately, but I’ll save those for another day. She started freelancing as a wedding photographer without having taken any photography classes, and now she has her hand in many things (and has quit wedding photography). She started Nasty Gal back in the day, then had a string of lawsuits against her (some of the things that happend at Nasty Gal make me very angry). Apparently Amanda’s friends joke that if you start talking to Amanda, by the end of the conversation she will convince you to quit your day job, lol.
In return, the zoo has sent two people over the years to help with the penguin and other seabird field work being conducted at the U.S. Palmer Station in Antarctica. So the first question on everyone’s minds: What’s Antarctica actually like? There’s a lot of seabirds that people don’t really think of when they think of Antarctica such as different species of gulls, terns, and relatives of albatross. There are quite a few species native to Antarctica with a few that migrate down for the austral summer; like whales and seals.
