Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services opened its Psychiatric Urgent Care Center April 15, 2019. The center is designed to provide same-day assessment and treatment for people experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms who cannot wait for routine outpatient intervention
In 2018, Pine Rest started a pilot project with Priority Health to conduct the follow-up via Telehealth Services technology. A 30-minute telehealth session set-up by the case manager prior to discharge, the appointment is a supportive session to improve communications with patients and help them connect with the necessary resources and level of care they need. “Conducting the follow up visit via telehealth removes many barriers for the patient,” says Nicole Gilbertson, PsyD, from Christian Counseling Center who is also a provider of Telehealth Services. At least two of the adults I’ve visited with would probably have ended up back in the hospital if they hadn’t had this visit to help them develop a plan to address worsening symptoms.

This means it is likely you have a neighbor, friend or family member who has ASD or that your child has a classmate with ASD. Understanding characteristics of children with ASD can help you relate to them Their brains of children with ASD take in information and respond to the world differently One way to understand what difference ASD makes in a child’s life is to think about how children’s brains take in information and respond to the world. If you, as a parent, can understand the differences that ASD brings to a family, you can help your child to be the best possible friend and provide a helping hand to another parent.
