Our favourite road trip started in Gretna Green, famous as a destination for people to elope to, followed by a stop off in Glasgow and then up to Loch Lomand via the highest village in Scotland, Wanlockhead and then Fort William and on to, of course, Loch Ness (although unfortunately, we didn’t spot her). This Christmas is going to be a tough one for so many people. For me, it’s the first Christmas without my wonderful nana. She died during the 1st lockdown (COVID unrelated) and I didn’t get to say goodbye. That is something that I will have to live with forever and I’ll be honest it’s broken me. Living close to the sea is something we will never take for granted. Being able to take the girls for a few hours on a random Sunday afternoon is a godsend. Armed with buckets, spades, wellies and all the warm waterproof clothes we own a trip to Hornsea was exactly what we needed today. After the latest news yesterday we are gutted that the children will only get to see their grandparents for one day over the festive period after not seeing them since the end of October and that because Mr ESLT is working on Christmas Day he may not see them at all. And to friends and family in Tier 4 our thoughts and hearts go out to you that the small luxury we have of Christmas Day has been taken away from you. Christmas Sunday Funday with our little elves saw us take a ride on the @northyorkshiremoorsrailway Santa Special today. We hopped on board in the charming town of Pickering and took a 1 hour round trip through the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. A lot of things have been cancelled this year but one thing we are not cancelling is Christmas. We are just doing things differently. Last year we visited Father Christmas in his grotto and the kids got to speak with him while sat on his knee. Rona means 2020 things have to done differently. Therefore today we visited @sledmere_house to see the big man. Everything was outdoors, each bubble had their own individual gazebo to stand under while he and his top elf put on a bit of a show before we were lead to the Elf’s gift shop where the kids picked a present and then got to see the reindeers. The girls loved every second. And we enjoyed the fresh air and the opportunity to walk around the beautiful grounds! Smiling because we have booked a holiday to one of our favourite places 😁 #Dubai is deffo a love it or hate it kind of place and we certainly fall on the love it side. Sunshine, shopping, great food and service 👌🏼 granted its a plastic fantastic oasis in the sand but sometimes travelling isn’t all about adventure and trekking from dawn until dusk. Sometimes it’s just about relaxing (well as much as you can with small kids). People say Dubai is devoid of history and culture. Maybe because they are looking in the wrong places? Head to the souks and Old Dubai if you want to learn more about the ‘real’ Dubai. This will be Mr ESLT’s 4th visit, my 3rd and the kids 1st. Granted we’re not going until next Christmas 2021 but after the shitshow 2020 has been it’s something to look forward to, right? Sunday in Tier 3. It would have been easy to stay at home and watch Christmas films but when you have kids and work from home all week, a change of scenery is very much needed. Therefore today we headed to @burtonagneshall for their Candy Cane Woodland Walk. They have hung 24 candy canes in the trees and produced sheets which allow kids (and big kids) to tick each one off when they spot them 🎄 Of course the Hall itself is closed to the public but there enough to do with the woodland walk, walled gardens and adventure playground to keep little ones entertained for a few hours.
