I’ve talked about this before, but people throw the word “self care” around a lot lately. On one hand, it’s amazing to see society start to value personal wellbeing! On the other, jeez, some of the self care advice out there is bad
* If not, use music or white noise to either block out or fill in the noise as needed If technology is distracting you, you’re not alone. * Start by cultivating mindfulness about your tech use and relying on your self-control * If that doesn’t work, break out the big guns and start blocking distracting apps and sites. A few minutes chatting about your weekends at work isn’t a problem, but a play-by-play of everything you’ve done when you’re supposed to be studying? If you’re seriously struggling with focus, you don’t need to be completely self-reliant.
If you’re a student, get rid of paperwork from any classes you dropped, presentations that didn’t interest you, or student organizations you’ll never join. maybe they’re bills to pay, maybe they’re surveys you actually meant to answer, maybe they’re reminders to make a call. If you’re new to 10 Minute Magic, or just found that brain dumping doesn’t really work for you, you’ll need a different strategy. Maybe it’s important financial info, maybe it’s a nice letter from a friend, maybe it’s unique reference material that’ll be useful in future schooling or work.
