Fashion Review: Oscars 2019

It was so different and fresh and, like so many of the looks this year, pushed the boundaries of fashion. I think cutting the bow would go a long way to simplify the look, or even putting her hair up so it doesn't look like she's neckless. The look itself felt a little like a repeat of my favorite Michelle Williams look from 2006, but you know what, it's been 13 years. Normally I don't really feel like it's fair to be overly critical of the not-famous dates at these things because, let's be real, they don't have the same access to designer fashion.

What I Would Wear to Oscars 2019

You'd need a gown that makes as much of an impact on the red carpet as it does gliding across the Kodak Theater stage, and I can just picture someone like Constance Wu floating in this modern Cinderella gown by Elie Saab. Rachel has traditionally gravitated to simple and modern silhouettes, usually minimal in decoration, but I'd like to see her pay homage to the fanciful styles of the English royal court in her movie with something like this Ralph & Russo gown. Emma Stone, also of "The Favourite," has been phoning it in a bit lately — at last year's Oscars, she wore a burgundy blazer with black pants that I'd easily wear to work So for the Governor's Ball and the Elton John party, I think it would be fun to do a callback to her wild-and-weird fashion beginnings and wear this beautiful and modern Iris Van Herpen dress that looks like a 3D-printed topographical map.

Fashion Review: Grammys 2019

It's like a fashion interpretation of the circus, blending the ringmaster's frock with the silhouette of an elephant's head and the fabric of a big top tent. This is like the little sister version of Katy's gown, and is maybe one of my favorite looks she's worn to the Grammy's. Kelsea Ballerini's nude Jenny Packham gown is a little snoozy, but I did like the ruching in the waist and there's not much a red-orange lip can't elevate. Her oversized black suit just didn't do anything for me, but she does look like she is LIVING.Bear with me, but I am classifying this pink Muppet ensemble on Tayla Parx (apparently a mega successful songwriter behind "Thank U Next" and "High Hopes" by Panic at the Disco) as a "meh" because it's falling just shy of being a successful avant-garde look and just shy of being true blech

Fashion Review: SAG Awards 2019

It's a little bit Ginger Rogers, a little bit futuristic, a little bit 70's. This swiss dot Monique Lhuillier gown with a black sash is sweet and simple, but decidedly not black or boring like most of her outfits. When you're fresh on the scene and this is maybe your first chance to walk a red carpet, you can't really go wrong with a sequined nude gown dripping with baubles and cinched with a burgundy belt. This looks like conservative couture made for Jem and she's wielding that purse like she's about to emulate Gogo Yobari in Kill Bill.
