They like any position that keeps the wind off and prefer dry exposed wood because many variants of wasps chew up wood to turn it into nest material. Wasps don’t generally travel more than a few hundred yards from their nest and most of them prefer to conserve their energy to guard the nest itself. This means that seeing one wasp could mean that the nest could be anywhere on your property or even on a nearby neighbor’s home instead. Wasps are also likely to seek space in less used semi-outdoor areas like sheds, garages, and attics but they might also choose any sheltered area in the yard like under a tarp or a pile of firewood.
In fact, those mice invading your home likely set up their home base in an area we rarely visit – either the basement or the attic. When a mouse infestation is bad, you might be able to pop up in the attic with a flash light and hear them scurrying in a panic. If you have an unfinished attic that is just a bunch of insulation and maybe a few boards to walk on, you will be able to spot mouse activity pretty quickly. If you have a finished attic, it may be more difficult to spot mouse activity like this.

* Place food from the refrigerator directly into an insulated cooler immediately before leaving home and use lots of ice or ice packs to keep it at 40 °F or below. * Pack raw meat, poultry, and seafood in a separate cooler if possible, or wrap it securely and store at the bottom of the cooler where the juices can’t drip onto other foods. * When removing foods from the grill, place them on a clean platter – never use the same platter and utensils you used for raw meat, poultry, or seafood. Don’t let hot or cold food sit out in the “Danger Zone” (between 40 °F and 140 °F) for more than 2 hours – or 1 hour if the outdoor temperature is above 90 °F.
