This is AMAZING🤘🏼 ( scroll over to see the story ) I can’t begin to express how breathtaking this piece of art is, and just how important and impactful it already has become to me and my years with Ollie… Alyse Dietel ( @amilliontinylines ) has such a magical way of combining so many memorable moments into a small frame it brought me to tears the moment I laid eyes on it She was able to integrate so many adventures it blows my mind: Paddle boarding on Lake Tahoe, mountain biking in Grand Junction, Colorado’s state flower the Columbine, running through the Midland Tunnels in Buena Vista, exploring among giants in Capitol Reef, camping at our favorite lake, seeing our first waterfalls in Oregon, watching hot air balloons take off, and to top it off pikes peak atop Ollie’s head… it all just fits so seamlessly and will be a reminder forever of the amazing life Ollie has brought me… I can’t thank him enough 🤘🏼😭 #explorewithme #coloradodog #dogsofinstagram #artislife

I get asked a lot… “what’s it like to have a deaf dog?” While there are a lot of differences around training, attention, discipline, and of course communication… I can’t express enough just how perfect she has been and how patient she has been with me. Ollie was wild as a young pup, with him being the only dog I’ve raised from the get go, I was prepared for that same experience with Echo with added challenges to boot… but she just settled in, effortlessly. She just watched and learned, and I did same for her and somehow, here we are… on her gotcha day, a year together as a family and it just works. And I owe so much of that to Ollie and his ability to lead by example, give her the space to be a puppy when she drives him nuts but it’s so comforting to see how close they have become and how special they know they both are 😭 For years I couldn’t imagine my life without Ollie for all he has given me and all I’ve given him… and now it’s the same for Echo, we are a pack… wouldn’t have it any other way 🤘🏼 #ollieandecho #explorewithollie #gotchaday

This summer & fall were by far my most inconsistent seasons for schedule, routine, adventure, and just simply staying on top of things and finding time for myself with the pups Training a new puppy, let alone a deaf one, definitely took its tool on my energy and goals… but we’re learning more and more each day how to take it by stride and find the joy in the little things So that as the big things come… we’ll be ready 🤘🏼 #ollieandecho #coloradopups #dogsofinsta

What do you reflect on when this day comes each year?   For me, it’s the values I learned from my time in the military and the drive to keep them a part of my life still to this day.   Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage.   I was reminded of these core values recently while attending the Army vs Air Force Academy’s commanders cup football game. Seeing our young military leaders come together after the game’s end, regardless of the score and the fight in the field, they venture to each other’s end zones and join together as one team, one fight as their respective bands play their school’s alma maters.   This moment gave me chills as it sent me back to my many years of service, my duty to our country, the honor that my time given had an impact, the respect I had for my fellow soldiers, and all attributes that I am proud of myself for and still carry to this day.
