Let’s talk about the kids – those who haven’t figured out the misery of cold yet and are happy to play outside for hours upon end. I’m happy to let them play outside as much as possible, but I also need to ensure they stay warm, healthy and safe. The sun reflecting off the white snow, back at your child’s face can lead to sunburn and other issues that you’d normally only think happen in summer. You don’t have to stand there watching them the entire time, especially if they are playing with a sibling or friend, but quickly checking in to make sure they are safe is not a bad thing.
About 45 minutes across the Ottawa/Gatineau border, in the Outaouais region, is a drive-thru experience that both kids and adults alike will truly enjoy. It’s good to note that at the park house (maison du parc) there is an opportunity to purchase bags of carrots for $2.50 per bag. There are deer in this area that come right up to you, and feed dispensers as they aren’t big fans of the carrots (so bring quarters). It’s about a 45-60 minute drive from the Ottawa are and WELL worth the trip! !

Here are 6 dependable hosting tips to help you out this holiday season: ◦ There’s always bound to be at least one guest who has a special dietary requirement or taste. Don’t leave it until tomorrow so the stain can set in – throw that table cloth or guest’s shirt in the wash right away. ◦ Being a holiday, you may be tempted to bring out the fancy china & crystal, however, handwashing at the end of the meal means your kitchen looks like a complete disaster!
I believe reading to be a very personal thing – and while my list may not be yours, perhaps there’s something on my list you haven’t even considered. Because this dystopian novel is a work of speculative fiction that the reader is eerily able to believe could actually be. Because it’s still deeply shocking for a young reader to discover what can happen when the rules of civilization fall away. This tale of a patient who fakes insanity to land a place on psychiatric ward is funny, sad and touching.
