It’s been a while since I’ve written on this blog. Mostly this was because of the day job that took up most of my time this past year, and partly it was because I had to move twice
So I decided to give R. S. Belcher another shot with Shotgun Arcana, the second in his Golgotha series. In short, the Old West wasn’t exactly a great and shining example of equality or magnanimous spirit, and what was wrong with it was almost directly transferred into the pages of Six-Gun. The plot of Six-Gun revolved around a world-ending monster being freed from the depths of Golgotha, and in Shotgun Arcana the theme is repeated, this time with the rebel angel Raziel, who is collecting a ragged band of serial killers and violent cannibals to come turn Golgotha into their own private sinfest. Shotgun brings back a familiar cast of characters, including Sheriff Jon Highfather, Gay Mayor and Mormon Holy Warrior Harry Pratt, the half-breed magic Injun Mutt, the lady ninja Maude, and Jim Negrey of the Chinese cultural appropriation.
